This role suits a reliable and independent contributor who can design and deliver well-scoped features and services with a strong focus on quality, maintainability and secure-by-default engineering. You will work within a modern microservices architecture and contribute to continuous delivery practices.
This is a growth role for someone progressing toward senior-level impact and increased system ownership.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement well-defined features and services within a microservices architecture using modern .NET.
- Build and evolve RESTful APIs, ensuring reliability, security, and backward compatibility where required.
- Deliver changes through established CI/CD pipelines with a focus on quality and release safety.
- Write meaningful unit and integration tests to support safe, maintainable code.
- Maintain clean, readable, and well-structured code, refactoring where necessary to improve performance and clarity.
- Participate actively in peer code reviews and technical discussions to raise overall engineering standards.
- Ensure features are observable in production through appropriate logging, metrics, and traceability.
- Diagnose and resolve defects using structured debugging approaches.
- Contribute to performance, reliability, and scalability considerations within your scope of ownership.
- Provide realistic technical input during refinement and estimation, raising risks and edge cases early.
- Contribute to improvements in tooling, automation, and shared engineering practices.
- Professional software development experience delivering production systems as part of a collaborative engineering team.
- Solid experience with C# and modern .NET (.NET 6+ or equivalent).
- Experience building Web APIs using ASP.NET and applying RESTful design principles.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server and core data modelling concepts.
- Experience writing unit tests (xUnit, NUnit or similar) and familiarity with integration testing approaches.
- Strong Git fundamentals and experience working with pull request-based workflows.
- Exposure to CI/CD environments and automated build and deployment pipelines.
- Exposure to Azure or similar cloud platforms.
- Awareness of authentication and authorisation concepts such as OAuth2 and OpenID Connect.
- Desirable: experience with Docker, container-based development, and caching concepts.
