Firmware Engineer

** This role can sit in our North County San Diego office or in our upcoming Orange County office**

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design and develop low-level firmware and application-level software for microcontrollers, focusing on reusable device drivers and system integration.
• Diagnose and resolve issues that cross firmware and software boundaries.
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team within a small-team environment.
• Independently manage, prioritize, and balance project tasks to meet deadlines and drive success.
• Assist in selecting microcontrollers and peripherals, as well as reviewing schematics alongside the electrical engineering team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS or MS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent industry experience.
• 3+ years of end-to-end firmware design and verification experience across several technologies.
• Strong C or C++ coding knowledge and experience as applied to embedded systems.
• Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors.
• Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS contexts on physical hardware.
• Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring up and debugging.
• Experience debugging with JTAG, SWD, Oscilloscopes, and Logic analyzers.
• Solid experience with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, etc. Brownie points for Bluetooth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with nascent product development, test, and maintenance for the consumer electronic industry.
• Experience with one or more microcontroller systems (STM32, nRF, RX-series, etc.).
• Experience with audio and video codecs, and adjacent technologies.
• Experience working within an FPGA softcore or interactively FPGA through a peripheral bus interface
