Senior Compiler Engineer
Location: New York City or Chicago
We're working with a world-class quantitative technology firm looking for Compiler Engineers to build and optimise the compiler and runtime infrastructure behind large-scale, performance-critical C++ systems.
You'll be responsible for improving compiler performance, runtime efficiency, and code generation while working closely with systems engineers on software where every optimisation has measurable impact.
Responsibilities
- Develop compiler and toolchain enhancements
- Improve optimisation passes and generated code quality
- Optimise runtime performance on modern CPU architectures
- Work with LLVM, Clang, GCC, or similar compiler technologies
- Analyse and resolve low-level performance bottlenecks
Requirements
- Expert-level C++ programming skills
- Experience with LLVM, Clang, GCC, or compiler/toolchain development
- Strong understanding of compiler internals, runtime systems, and code generation
- Excellent knowledge of CPU architecture, memory hierarchy, and performance engineering
- Passion for solving complex systems and optimisation problems
Academic Background
Candidates should have an exceptional academic record in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, compiler theory, operating systems, and computer architecture are highly valued.
