About The Role
As a Field Application Engineer (FAE), you will share the region's revenue goals and work alongside the Sales team to understand the customer’s embedded projects, tool chains, CI/CD setups, and compliance needs. By combining curiosity with active listening, you will dive deep into these setups to uncover the customer's core pain points.
Whether navigating complex technical discussions or exploring embedded software challenges, you will take full ownership of your customers to secure the deal: whether that means engineering clever technical workarounds or acting as the crucial feedback loop between the field and IAR’s product teams.
You will be responsible for:
- Technical discovery & enablement: environment validation, issue reproduction, and clear guidance that accelerates evaluations.
- Onboarding support: targeted help that keeps new customers moving toward value, including creating and delivering technical training.
- Enterprise support: trusted, tailored post-sales advice with Sales/Customer Success.
- Technical material: produce concise, useful content on a regular cadence (e.g., monthly).
You are energized by helping customers succeed and are comfortable switching between deep technical detail and clear, value-driven explanations. You hold credible conversations with R&D leaders, instinctively tailoring your approach to the specific pain points of your audience to ensure our solutions resonate with their unique needs.
Additionally, you act as a proactive partner for the sales team, independently managing your schedule, and seeking out new ways to build relationships with customers.
To succeed in this role, we see that you have:
- BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- 10 years of embedded industry experience in roles such as Field Application Engineer or Application Developer.
- Strong C and/or C++ knowledge.
- Practical understanding of developer workflows (builds, debugging, source control).
- Solid written & verbal English; confident with mixed technical/non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and headless builds; scripting (Bash/Powershell, CMake, Make etc.).
- Experience with IDEs, debuggers, RTOS, and microcontroller toolchains (Arm; RISC-V).
- Exposure to compliance contexts (e.g., Functional Safety Standards) and customer success motions (training, health checks, adoption nudges).
IAR is a multi-cultural and global business in a fast-growing industry, an organization where every co-worker's individual role is very important in the big picture.
