Principal GPU Compiler Developer
Our client is a leading global semiconductor company delivering system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for mobile, connectivity, home entertainment and IoT products worldwide. Their GPU IP team is focused on industry-leading, feature-rich and PPA-competitive graphics IP, deployed across flagship and mainstream mobile SoCs as well as adjacent markets including laptop, IoT, AI, VR/AR and automotive.
The team is now expanding its GPU function across architecture, driver, compiler, performance, power and modelling disciplines at its Cambridge site.
What you will be doing
- Defining GPU compiler software architecture and interfaces
- Developing and implementing the GPU compiler pipeline, including linking and a range of optimisations and transformations
- Collaborating with driver and hardware teams to implement new API and hardware features
- Working with driver and hardware teams to improve and tune performance and power consumption
- Executing and delivering against project milestones and schedules
- Analysing and debugging code generation issues
- Analysing and helping shape future GPU architectures
- Building strong working relationships across internal and external teams
What we are looking for
- A degree (BS, MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- 7+ years relevant experience
- Experience with product compilers and compiler tools such as assemblers and linkers
- Strong hands-on C/C++ programming experience
- Practical experience with modern compiler optimisation and transformation techniques
- Hands-on experience with LLVM
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong teamwork and execution capability
- Strong problem solving, root cause analysis and debugging skills
- A self-driven approach to work
Nice to have
- Knowledge or experience of GPU pipelines and GPU architecture
- Knowledge or experience of SIMD architecture
- Knowledge or experience of D3D, Vulkan/OpenGL or OpenCL APIs
- Experience applying AI to compiler, tooling or optimisation development
