Your Tasks
The UFO framework consists of the pipeline management library ufo-core (https://github.com/ufo-kit/ufo-core) and the companion library ufo-filters (https://github.com/ufo-kit/ufo-filters), which provides OpenCL-based image processing algorithms. You will redesign and modernize its key architectural elements while building on proven components to meet the demands of future large-scale imaging.
Your Tasks In Detail
- Modernize/rewrite the open-source UFO framework for scalable GPU-accelerated image reconstruction and analysis
- Design execution and scheduling mechanisms for image processing pipelines across CPUs, GPUs, and multi-node systems
- Optimize dataflow architectures for high-throughput processing with focus on:
- zero-copy processing,
- asynchronous execution,
- streaming pipelines,
- GPU-to-GPU transfers,
- and efficient utilization of high-speed interconnects
- Integrate and implement reconstruction and image processing algorithms for large-scale 3D imaging
- Develop Python interfaces and high-level workflow orchestration tools
- PhD in computer science, mathematics, or related disciplines; alternatively masters in one of the named disciplines with 2+ years work experience.
- Hands-on experience developing complex software systems in high-performance computing/ GPU computing environments
- Experience with GPU programming and parallel computing (CUDA, OpenCL, MPI, or similar)
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python
- Good Linux and software development skills (debugging, profiling, build systems, version control, design patterns)
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- Experience with image processing or tomographic reconstruction
- Experience with graph-based execution systems, streaming/dataflow architectures, or task schedulers
- Experience with RDMA/high-speed networking, or multi-GPU programming
