About the Role

Harmoni connects manufacturing equipment to the shop floor and front office, giving machinists and managers real-time visibility into their operations. We're looking for a Field Technician who knows the manufacturing world from the inside — someone who has stood at a CNC control, understands how a shop floor actually runs, and can talk shop with machinists and managers alike.

This is a hands-on, road-heavy role. About every other week you'll be onsite at customer facilities configuring machine controls to communicate with Harmoni devices, setting up the networking that makes it all work, and training both shop floor operators and front office staff. When you're not traveling, you'll be at our Akron headquarters, where we keep our training equipment and value working side by side as a team.

You'll also be one of our most important connections to the field. Customers constantly share how they work, what's difficult, and what they wish the product did — and you'll be the person who captures that, spells it out, and coordinates directly with our developers. Your insight from the field will help shape where the product goes next.

What You'll Do

  • Travel to customer sites (~50% of the time) to install and configure Harmoni devices
  • Configure machine controls — CNC and other equipment — to communicate with our systems, including program loading and related control features
  • Set up and troubleshoot the on-site networking: Ethernet cabling, switches, and basic network configuration
  • Train shop floor employees and front office staff on how to use Harmoni day to day
  • Act as the liaison between customers and our development team — capturing feedback, describing real-world difficulties, and helping translate field needs into product direction
  • Build and maintain ongoing customer relationships, serving as a continuing point of contact well beyond the initial rollout as customers adopt more features
  • Serve as the on-the-ground technical expert who can diagnose issues and speak the language of the people running the machines

Who You Are

  • Come from the CNC world. You've been a CNC machinist and ideally moved up into CNC programming. You know your way around a machine control and are comfortable getting into its setup and features.
  • Shop floor fluent. You understand how things work on a manufacturing floor and know how to communicate with machinists and shop managers. (We work with more than just CNC, so a broad familiarity with machine shops is a plus.)
  • IT-comfortable. You don't need to be an IT guru, but you can talk the talk on networking — running Ethernet, setting up connections, and understanding how devices communicate over a network.
  • A strong communicator and relationship builder. You listen well, follow through, and people want to keep working with you. You can translate what a customer says on the floor into something our developers can act on.
  • Willing to travel. Roughly every other week onsite. You're comfortable being on the road and representing Harmoni in person.
  • Based in or near Akron, OH. We value an in-person environment. When you're not traveling, we want you in the office with the team and our training equipment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with multiple control brands (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Siemens, etc.)
  • Exposure to machine connectivity standards like MTConnect
  • Customer-facing or training experience
