Location: Chicago (On-Site)

Salary: $175,000-$225,000 + Bonus

The Role

A leading proprietary trading and technology firm is looking for an experienced Bazel Engineer to help scale and optimize its software development infrastructure. This is an opportunity to join a highly technical engineering environment where you'll work closely with software developers to improve build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and developer productivity across large-scale codebases.

What You'll Do

• Develop, configure, and maintain Bazel build rules, macros, and toolchains
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate Bazel and migrate existing projects
• Optimize build performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, builds, and deployments
• Troubleshoot build issues and provide technical support to development teams
• Stay up to date with Bazel best practices and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Hands-on experience using Bazel in a production environment
• Experience optimizing Bazel builds for large-scale software projects
• Strong understanding of software development practices, build systems, and CI/CD
• 5+ years of professional C++ development experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Git and build tools such as Make or CMake
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
• Familiarity with CI tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar
• Contributions to open-source Bazel projects or related tooling are a bonus
