About the Role
The General Manager & Area Manager Spain is responsible for driving the success, profitability, and operational excellence of METT Barcelona, Casa METT Sitges, and future properties in Spain. The role leads hotel performance, develops high-performing teams, ensures exceptional guest experiences, and supports the growth of Sunset Hospitality Group within the Spanish market.
Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee the operations of all Spanish properties, ensuring efficiency and brand consistency.
- Implement and maintain SOPs, quality standards, and legal compliance.
- Lead capital projects, renovations, pre-openings, and hotel transitions.
- Manage supplier relationships and key operational contracts.
Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences aligned with luxury standards.
- Resolve guest concerns and monitor feedback to improve satisfaction.
- Promote a culture of service excellence across all properties.
Financial Performance
- Prepare and achieve annual budgets and business plans.
- Monitor KPIs including ADR, RevPAR, occupancy, GOP, and profitability.
- Drive revenue growth, cost control, and operational efficiency.
- Present financial performance to owners and stakeholders.
- Support feasibility studies and new business opportunities.
Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop hotel leadership teams.
- Drive recruitment, succession planning, and talent development.
- Foster collaboration and high performance across the portfolio.
Commercial & Strategy
- Support commercial strategies to maximize revenue and market share.
- Build relationships with owners, partners, tourism authorities, and investors.
- Represent the company at industry events.
- Support expansion, acquisitions, and hotel developments in Spain.
Reporting & Compliance
- Provide regular operational and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with legal, brand, and company standards.
- Act as the main liaison between Corporate Leadership and hotel teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of hotel management experience, including 5+ years as a General Manager or in senior leadership.
- Proven experience managing luxury or upscale hotels, delivering strong financial results, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence.
- Strong commercial, financial, and operational expertise, including budgeting, revenue management, cost control, and performance reporting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with experience in hotel openings, renovations, transitions, and business growth.
- Proficient in hotel management systems and key hospitality KPIs (ADR, RevPAR, GOP, occupancy).
- Knowledge of Spanish labour legislation, health and safety regulations, and the Barcelona hospitality market.
