Trueline's client, a premier luxury custom homebuilder with a dominant presence throughout Plymouth and surrounding communities, is seeking an Operations Manager to join its leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished residential construction professional who combines exceptional field leadership with deep construction financial expertise to help scale an already thriving business.
This role is far more than overseeing jobsites. The Operations Manager will become the owner's trusted right-hand leader, responsible for managing luxury custom home construction while helping drive purchasing strategy, job profitability, financial performance, and the long-term operational growth of the company. For the right individual, this role offers a path toward executive leadership and future ownership participation.
What You'll Do as the Operations Manager:
- Oversee multiple luxury custom home projects simultaneously from groundbreaking through homeowner turnover
- Ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and built to the company's exceptionally high quality standards
- Coordinate superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, architects, and homeowners throughout construction
- Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedules, budgets, or quality
- Lead scheduling, purchasing, subcontractor coordination, and production planning across multiple active projects
- Review project budgets, monitor job costs, and maintain profitability throughout construction
- Analyze P&L performance, purchasing decisions, construction costs, and operational metrics to improve financial performance
- Collaborate directly with ownership on forecasting, cash flow, purchasing strategies, and overall business operations
- Build strong relationships with luxury homeowners while providing an exceptional customer experience throughout construction
- Assist with estimating, project planning, contract execution, and operational decision-making as the company continues to grow
- Help develop scalable systems and processes that support continued expansion
- Mentor field personnel while helping build the next generation of operational leadership
Must-Haves as the Operations Manager:
- 15+ years of residential construction experience with significant luxury custom home experience
- Demonstrated success managing custom homes valued at approximately $1 million to $2 million+, with experience on larger luxury projects preferred
- Strong background managing multiple custom home projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to identify construction issues before they become costly problems
- Extensive knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and quality control
- Strong experience with purchasing, subcontractor management, and vendor negotiations
- Demonstrated understanding of construction financials, including job costing, purchasing, budgets, cash flow, and P&L management
- Ability to analyze project profitability and make operational decisions that improve financial performance
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills when working with high-end homeowners
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and hold subcontractors accountable
- Highly organized with outstanding judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail
Nice-to-Haves as the Operations Manager:
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Director of Construction, Division Manager, General Manager, or similar construction leadership role
- Experience managing the operational and financial performance of a residential construction business
- Experience overseeing purchasing strategy and company-wide construction operations
- Knowledge of construction lending, financing, and residential development economics
- Experience helping grow or scale a luxury homebuilding company
- Interest in long-term executive leadership and eventual ownership opportunities
