Chief Marketing Officer, TDV Platforms
Melbourne | Full-time | Reports to CEO | Apartments.com.au · iBuildNew · Conversion Assist
You've done it before. You drove a marketplace or e-commerce business through its scale-up years, maybe from the top growth seat, maybe as the engine behind it. Either way, the machine was yours: the demand engine, the funnel, the numbers that actually moved.
This is the role where you own the whole system.
We're a bootstrapped, profitable, fast-growing proptech group, and we're hiring a player-coach to run growth across our platforms.
WHO WE ARE
TDV Platforms (part of Third Door Ventures) is three businesses working as one system:
- Apartments.com.au: Australia's most visited platform built for off-the-plan apartments
- iBuildNew: the platform where Australians compare builders, house designs and land before they build
- Conversion Assist: the leading conversational voice AI platform for Australian real estate
Millions of Australians use our platforms every year to find, compare and buy new homes. We sit on both sides of the marketplace: consumer demand on one side, developer and builder adoption on the other.
It's a rare seat: driving growth for a multi-sided marketplace and an agentic AI layer.
And the AI piece isn't a slide in our strategy deck.
We use AI across every functional area of the business, and 25% of ASX-listed homebuilders and residential developers already use Conversion Assist to re-engage leads and lift meeting attendance rates with our AI voice agents.
Our consumer brands run on Landmark OS, our internally developed technology platform with enterprise-grade APIs, built deliberately so growth is empowered with the right data from day one.
SEO & AEO at scale, automated nurture, performance marketing, AI-led conversion, brand marketing & personalisation: the rails exist, and the right operator will know exactly what to do with them.
THE MANDATE
This is not a brand custodian role. You'll own the full growth system:
- Consumer demand. Scale qualified new-home-buyer audiences across Apartments.com.au and iBuildNew: SEO, AEO, content, performance marketing, partnerships. We care about leads that convert, not traffic that flatters.
- B2B adoption. Build the engine that supports our experienced commercial team getting developers, builders and agencies to leverage our platforms and products. Marketing that moves pipeline.
- The connective tissue. Make the two sides compound. More buyers makes the platform more valuable to developers; more developer engagement makes it more valuable to buyers. Your job is to make that flywheel spin faster.
You'll work directly with the CEO and the executive team. Full P&L visibility. Real budget authority. No layers between your ideas and the decision.
THE TEAM YOU'RE JOINING
The executive team you'll join is a small group of senior operators who've done scale-ups before across product & technology, go-to-market and strategic finance, each owning a specific outcome.
No layers, no coordinators coordinating coordinators, no headcount as a status symbol. The model is simple: fewer, better people with real ownership, leveraged hard by AI.
Your own team is five highly skilled individual contributors across the growth function. Not a department to administer, but genuine builders to point at the highest-leverage problems.
Player-coach means exactly that: you set the system, and you ship inside it alongside them.
You'll also have direct exposure to our board: technology entrepreneurs who've built businesses like Carsales, Finder and Fliteboard. The people judging your work have done the thing. For the right operator, that's the draw, not the pressure.
WHY THIS ROLE, WHY NOW
Let's name the obvious question: if you've already scaled something bigger, why this?
Because at most businesses, even good ones, growth leadership comes with constraints: a slice of the system, a board-approved playbook, a growth plan you inherited rather than wrote.
Here the growth roadmap is yours to write, across three platforms and both sides of a marketplace.
Consumer demand and B2B adoption, strategy and execution, the budget and the result. The denominator is smaller. The seat is bigger.
- Real momentum. FY26 was our highest growth year on record across leads and revenue, built without a dollar of outside capital. You're not being hired to find product-market fit. You're being hired to pour fuel on something that's already working.
- A company that actually moves. Four acquisitions in the last four years. When we see the right opportunity, organic or inorganic, we act. Growth isn't a department here; it's the operating posture, and you'll be at the centre of it.
- First CMO chair. You define the function, the team, the operating rhythm. No inherited dysfunction, no committee between you and the decision.
- Player-coach by design. You'll set strategy and ship work in the same week. Small enough that you'll do, big enough that it matters.
- A market in flux. AI is rewriting how new homes get marketed, sold and bought. We're building for that world, not defending the last one. If that excites you more than it scares you, keep reading.
WHO YOU ARE
- You've done the scale-up journey, not watched it. You were the one driving growth at a marketplace or e-commerce business through its $10-20M to $50M+ ARR scale-up phase (or the equivalent in leads/GMV). You can tell us what you owned, what broke, and what you'd do differently (we know from experience that failure is part of the process)
- You're already operating with generative AI, not reading about it. You've deployed AI systems in your current role: content engines, agentic workflows, AI-led nurture, programmatic SEO at scale. We'll ask you to show us, not describe it.
- You think in systems, not campaigns. You can draw the growth loop on a whiteboard and tell us where it leaks.
- Consumer demand is your core strength. And you've got the commercial instincts to build B2B pipeline alongside it, even if it's the newer muscle.
- You're a player-coach by temperament. Hands-on enough to build, senior enough to lead, and honest enough to tell the CEO when he's wrong. (He'll expect you to.)
WHO SHOULDN'T APPLY
- If you need a big team and a big budget before you can move, this isn't it.
- If "marketing" means managing agencies and approving creative, this isn't it.
- If consumer demand isn't your core strength, this isn't it.
THE PROCESS
Send us something you've built and what it did to the numbers: a growth engine you scaled, an AI system you shipped, a funnel you rebuilt. Skip the cover letter. We'd rather see your thinking than your formatting.
