About the Role


Slate Asset Management is seeking to appoint a talented hands-on Asset Manager to join its European platform, with a primary focus on managing and executing asset strategies across its German portfolio, particularly within essential real estate.


This role will support the execution of asset management activities across the German portfolio, helping to deliver value throughout the asset lifecycle with a focus on day-to-day execution, operational performance, and commercial outcomes.


A key part of the role will involve supporting leasing activities and tenant engagement. The individual will work closely with Henning Hedemann (Vice President, based in Berlin) and the wider team on leasing strategy and negotiations, while building relationships within the German occupier market and contributing to the delivery of asset business plans.


Responsibilities


  • Support the management of a German portfolio of essential real estate assets, contributing to asset performance and value creation initiatives
  • Act as a local point of contact for asset-related matters, working closely with the wider asset management team and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the execution of asset strategies and business plans across the asset lifecycle
  • Support leasing activities, including occupier engagement, lease negotiations, and transaction execution, with a focus on reducing vacancy and growing income
  • Coordinate with external leasing agents and consultants, helping to monitor performance and manage project delivery
  • Prepare financial analysis and business cases to support asset management initiatives, drawing on market data and sector insights
  • Assist in the delivery of asset-level initiatives, including refurbishments, repositioning projects, and capital expenditure programmes
  • Monitor asset performance and provide analysis and recommendations to support decision-making
  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of asset business plans, ensuring alignment with investment objectives
  • Work closely with the London-based investment team, providing local market insights and supporting underwriting and asset management activities


Qualifications


  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in real estate asset management and/or leasing
  • Experience managing or supporting the management of retail and/or logistics assets
  • Experience contributing to asset business plans and executing asset management initiatives
  • Exposure to leasing activities, including tenant engagement, lease negotiations, and transaction execution
  • Existing relationships within the German occupier market (e.g. food retailers, discounters, logistics operators) would be advantageous
  • Experience supporting value creation initiatives such as refurbishments, repositioning projects, capex programmes, or operational performance improvements
  • Hands-on, proactive approach with a strong focus on execution
  • Good understanding of the German real estate market and occupier dynamics
  • Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across different teams and locations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Comfortable presenting analysis and contributing ideas in discussions with senior colleagues
  • High level of accountability, organisation, and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn, develop, and take on increasing responsibility
  • Fluency in German and English
