Business Development Consultant. Health and Safety
Indexed description
Safety360 | Auckland | New Zealand | Commission-only | Flexible hours
We're doing something that hasn't been done here before, and we need someone who can open doors.
Safety360 measures workplace health and safety culture. Not compliance paperwork — culture. What people actually think, what they'll actually say, and where leadership's view of the business differs from the crew's view of it.
The traditional route to that insight is a site assessment: weeks of consultant time, significant cost, and a report that's out of date by the time it lands. We do it with a survey the team completes in a few minutes, and deliver it back as a visual dashboard with expert interpretation.
We're two months out from full launch. Eight organisations — all 70+ staff — are already signed up to our pilot Pulse Check programme. We're looking for a BDM to take this to the wider market.
What you'd be doing
- Opening conversations with medium and large organisations (20–500 staff) across construction, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, transport and local government and wider
- Running discovery conversations that get to the real issue — most safety leaders know their culture has soft spots, they just can't evidence it
- Presenting our Pulse Check and Team Culture Survey products, supported by our facilitators
- Managing your pipeline through to signed agreement
- Feeding what you hear in the market back to us, so we build the right thing
What we need from you
- Genuine health and safety experience — you've worked in it, consulted in it, or sold into it. You need to be credible in a room with a HSE Manager or a Board.
- A track record of winning new business, ideally B2B and consultative
- Existing relationships in the sector, or the confidence to build them fast
- Comfort with being early. There's no playbook yet. You'll help write it.
- Self-directed — this is a commission only role, the potential is there, we have been testing it already
What's in it for you
- Uncapped commission on a product with recurring revenue, not one-off sales
- Ground floor of a scaling business. We're building toward Australia, the US and the UK. The person who proves this model in New Zealand is in a strong position as we grow.
- A live commercial hook. The Health and Safety at Work Amendment Bill passed in July 2026 and comes into force April 2027, sharpening directors' duties around health and safety. Boards are asking what they can actually evidence. We answer that question.
- Genuinely easy to sell. A few minutes of your team's time versus weeks of assessment. The conversation lands quickly.
- Full support — proposals, dashboards, facilitators and materials are all built. You sell.
- Work when and how you want
