Job Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the identification and cultivation of RETS “partner” relationships. Partners are defined as fellow professionals that work with investment property owners including DST sponsors, wholesalers, commercial real estate brokers, residential real estate agents, CPAs and estate planning attorneys. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in expanding RETS’s market presence by driving field-based growth through live events, strategic partnerships, and referral development.

The position reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and serves as a bridge between demand generation, partner relationships, and the advisory team, helping translate in-market engagement into qualified consultations and long-term referral channels. We will support your completion of the Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE) and Series 7. Travel is required.

The ideal candidate is highly relational, confident in front of a room, someone who knows how to educate, build trust quickly, and generate inbound interest without overselling.

This is a highly visible role designed to shape and grow RETS’s field-based business development function. It requires proactive leadership, intellectual curiosity, tenacity and a customer-service approach.

Job Responsibilities


Business Development Manager

  • Field-Based Demand Generation Events: Plan and execute live events across priority markets in partnership with Marketing. Support the development and testing of event formats (educational sessions, partner co-hosted, events, associate based events).Deliver compelling presentations which create in-person experiences leading participants to schedule consultations with RETS’ advisory team.
  • Lead Generation and Relationship Management: Identify and cultivate relationships with DST sponsors and wholesalers, commercial real estate brokers, financial advisors, CPAs and other referral partners.Leverage existing networks and referrals to generate leads and expand our client base.
  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with wholesalers and strategic contacts to co-host events, expand access to relevant networks and support entry into new markets. Advocate for the integration of DST education into offices and training programs. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the real estate community to promote our services and foster collaboration through meetings, social outings and other means to build strong professional relationships.
  • Presentation and Education: Deliver compelling presentations to partners and prospective clients, educating on the benefits of DSTs. Must be able to present effectively in one-on-one, small and large audience formats. Work with Marketing to develop educational materials and resources to support outreach efforts and facilitate understanding. Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously enhance presentation content and effectiveness.
  • Referral Generation and Pipeline Management: Contribute to the development and implementation of a referral engine to achieve advisor consultations and business objectives. Collaborate with the advisory team and investor relations to coordinate efforts, track progress and optimize conversion rates. Effectively log activities to track and report on referral program and pipeline progress.


Qualifications

Experience

  • 5–8+ years in business development, field sales, or relationship-driven roles with a proven track record of success
  • Financial and real estate acumen with an understanding of investment products, or capital markets
  • Experience managing or developing a book of business and quota targets
  • Exposure to wholesalers or partner-driven models is a plus
  • Existing network of brokers, advisors, or property owners is a strong plus

  • Highly proactive with ability to manage time, calendar, reporting, task ownership, and prioritization
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, HubSpot, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time (primarily local and regional)
  • Strong judgment and ability to represent the RETS brand in-market


Total Target Compensation: $125,000 – $175,000 per year.


Compensation Structure: This position provides up to a $90,000 annual non-recoverable draw against earned sales commissions. The draw provides a guaranteed income floor and is not required to be repaid if commissions are less than the draw amount. Target total compensation includes the draw plus commissions earned under the company’s compensation plan. The draw is measured and reset annually on January 1, with the first year prorated based on the employee’s start date.


The company will support you in completing the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam and the Series 7 Exam.


Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all FINRA-required background screening and fingerprinting requirements.
