- Sales Professional
- 12 month contract, plan to be permanent
- Specialty Chemicals & Life Sciences portfolio
I’d like to introduce you to a long-established global leader in the production and distribution of chemicals, plastics, food ingredients as well life sciences and cosmetics with sales and distribution across some 30 countries and manufacturing in 4, bringing an extraordinary array of offerings to a range of industries around the world.
The Australian office, based in Melbourne, is a market leader in plastics and polymers and a burgeoning brand for chemicals. The organisation, consistent with its strategic direction, is now looking to expand the Australian offices to include Specialty Chemicals and Health & Life Sciences. These represent
substantial opportunities for the company with vast product applications across Manufacturing and Oil & Gas with petroleum product, as well as paints, solvents and adhesives, but also enzymes and speciality ingredients for pharmaceutical and personal care industries. To name a few.
The plan is an initial contract for 12 months to ‘set up’ the market and offering in Australia. Following that, all going to plan, a permanent Business Development Manager position will be established to lead the continued growth of the portfolio in Australia. This would be an autonomous position with full P&L, revenue and profit targets. Therefore, this represents quite a rare opportunity to set up a market and office in Australia and then transition into a permanent role, putting your plans into action!
The first 12 months will see you undertake market research and mapping to understand customers and their needs, market sizes, trends and competitor activities. You’ll then identify new business opportunities and market segments, supporting expansion of the customer base and product offerings. Your pioneering efforts will also include related marketing of product and establishing strong relations with key industry partners. Additionally, you’ll work closely with local management, but also global teams including Account and Product Managers, supporting pricing strategies and sales planning.
The company is fully committed to this strategy and indeed work has already commenced in this space and accounts have been identified. This is now where you come in, to take this work and bring it to fruition!
As I say, this is quite a rare opportunity to take advantage of a growing market, help develop the organisation’s plan for the segment and develop your future role! We think you’re degree qualified in Science, Business, or Marketing and have some previous sales or marketing experience in chemicals, mining, life sciences or healthcare and therefore understand the markets at play. Or perhaps you’ve worked with a product distributor and trade business development. If you’ve got the market knowledge and the tenacity, we’d be keen to talk to you.
