Our client is a leading global supplier and distributor of premium food products, sourcing the highest-quality ingredients and delicacies from trusted producers around the world.


Their extensive portfolio includes truffles, caviar, wagyu beef, foie gras, chocolate, charcuterie, fresh produce and many other specialist products. Through close partnerships with their suppliers, they deliver exceptional fresh, frozen and ambient products to some of the UK’s most prestigious restaurants, 4- and 5-star hotels, contract caterers, foodservice businesses, food processors and premium retailers.


Renowned for the quality of its products, market knowledge and outstanding customer service, the business is recognised as a market leader and a trusted partner to many of the UK’s leading hospitality establishments.


Following continued growth within the meat category, they are now seeking an experienced Meat Business Development Manager to drive new customer acquisition and expand the category across London and the surrounding area.


Role


As Meat Business Developer, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth across the company’s premium meat portfolio.


The role will have a strong new business focus, identifying and securing opportunities across restaurants, hotels, contract caterers, wholesalers and food processors. You will use your knowledge of the London hospitality and foodservice market to generate leads, open new accounts and develop long-term commercial relationships.


Alongside winning new business, you will manage and grow a portfolio of key meat customers, ensuring excellent service levels and identifying further opportunities to increase sales and market share.


The portfolio includes premium Beef, Wagyu, Veal, Lamb, Pork, Poultry and Cured Meats.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across the meat category.
  • Opening new accounts and delivering agreed sales and margin targets.
  • Building strong commercial relationships with key customers.
  • Developing business development plans aligned with wider company objectives.
  • Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements.
  • Providing market insight to support product development and category strategy.
  • Working closely with the Meat Category Manager, Buyer, Sales and Operations teams.
  • Producing accurate sales forecasts and supporting purchasing and supply planning.
  • Managing customer enquiries and ensuring agreed service levels are achieved.
  • Reporting regularly on account openings, sales performance and market activity.
  • Supporting product launches and providing detailed customer feedback.
  • Completing professional customer handovers to the local sales team where appropriate.


The position reports directly to the Meat & Seafood Category Manager and will work closely with the wider Procurement, Sales and Operations teams.


Requirements


The successful candidate will be a commercially driven sales professional with proven experience in business development or account management within the meat industry or wider food sector.


You will have:

  • Strong knowledge of meat products, supply chains and market dynamics.
  • A proven track record of winning new customers and growing existing accounts.
  • Experience selling into foodservice, hospitality, wholesale, contract catering or food processing customers.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to grow turnover while protecting margin.
  • An established understanding of the London hospitality and foodservice market.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to analyse market and sales data and turn insight into commercial action.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience using CRM systems, ERP platforms and Microsoft Excel.
  • A self-motivated, resilient and proactive approach.
  • A genuine passion for premium-quality food, meat products and cooking.

Location


This is a London-based field sales role, with regular travel throughout London and the surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will also be required to attend the company’s office in Park Royal when necessary.

  • Basic salary of £45,000 to £50,000
