Business Development Manager - Chemical/Polymer Technologies

Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to grow market share and revenue for our chemical and polymer solutions. This role combines technical understanding of chemical engineering and polymerization with strategic sales, segment marketing and relationship management to identify opportunities, develop partnerships, and convert leads into customers. The ideal candidate will bridge technical and commercial teams to drive customer-focused solutions in industrial automation and process control environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities within target segments of the chemical and polymer industries, using market research, CRM data and industry networks.
  • Develop and execute segment-specific go-to-market and account plans that align product capabilities (polymerization, process control, industrial automation) with customer needs.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation, proposal development, technical validation and negotiation to closing and handover to operations.
  • Work closely with R&D, engineering and product management to translate customer requirements into technical solutions and influence product roadmap.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, channel partners and distributors to expand the companys network and referral pipeline.
  • Use CRM to track opportunities, forecast sales, report market feedback and monitor KPIs; continually refine sales processes and methodologies.
  • Deliver compelling technical-commercial presentations, proposals and demonstrations addressing process control, automation and performance metrics.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences and trade shows to generate leads, strengthen brand presence and maintain visibility in STEM and chemical communities.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop segment marketing initiatives, case studies and collateral that support demand generation.
  • Mentor and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction during implementation and after-sales support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or another STEM field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of business development or sales experience in the chemical, polymer or industrial automation sectors, with a proven track record of meeting revenue targets.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of polymerization processes, chemical industry operations, industrial automation and process control concepts.
  • Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) to manage pipelines, forecasts and customer data.
  • Strong relationship management and network-building skills with an established contact base in relevant industry segments.
  • Proven experience in segment marketing, developing go-to-market plans and executing sales strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills; able to translate technical details into business value.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, partner locations and industry events as required.
