This position is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, winning commercial work, leading preconstruction efforts, and helping shape the future of a growing company. This is not simply an estimating or sales position—it is a leadership role that combines business development, estimating oversight, preconstruction management, and strategic planning.
The successful candidate will work directly with Ownership, Operations, Project Management, and Field Leadership to drive profitable growth while ensuring our customers receive an exceptional experience from the first conversation through project completion.
Cover It Painting is a full-service commercial painting contractor specializing in commercial painting, wallcovering installation, specialty coatings, and floor coatings. We partner with General Contractors, Developers, Property Managers, Healthcare Systems, Senior Living Communities, Educational Facilities, Hotels, Retail Clients, Industrial Facilities, and Commercial Building Owners throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.
Building long-term relationships is at the core of this role.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain relationships with General Contractors, Developers, Architects, Owners, Property Managers, Facility Managers, and Commercial Real Estate professionals.
- Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, customer visits, LinkedIn, industry organizations, trade events, and proactive outreach.
- Identify projects early in the planning and design phases to position Cover It Painting before bid day.
- Conduct customer visits, lunches, presentations, project interviews, and networking events.
- Expand existing customer relationships while continuously developing new accounts.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and help establish annual revenue goals.
- Represent Cover It Painting with professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service.
This position will oversee the estimating and preconstruction process while working closely with our estimating team.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and oversee the estimating department to ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and submitted on time.
- Review project scopes, labor budgets, production rates, equipment requirements, subcontractor pricing, and material quantities.
- Provide final review and approval of pricing prior to proposal submission.
- Develop bid strategies and collaborate with Ownership on major project pursuits.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract documents to ensure complete project coverage.
- Coordinate all preconstruction activities including bid packages, RFIs, value engineering opportunities, scope reviews, qualifications, exclusions, and proposal development.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing preconstruction submittals, product data, color schedules, finish schedules, mock-up documentation, and other owner or general contractor requirements.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, project walkthroughs, and customer interviews.
- Lead project turnover meetings with Operations and Project Management to ensure a seamless transition from estimating to production.
- Assist Project Managers with budgeting, change order pricing, project cost analysis, and customer communication throughout construction.
As a member of the leadership team, you will play an active role in helping guide the continued growth of Cover It Painting.
Responsibilities include:
- Mentor and support estimators while helping develop future leaders within the company.
- Collaborate with Ownership, Operations, Project Management, and Field Leadership to improve communication, efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Help establish and improve company-wide systems, processes, and best practices across estimating, preconstruction, business development, and operations.
- Participate in strategic planning, annual business planning, revenue forecasting, and growth initiatives.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and developing new team members.
- Promote a culture built on accountability, teamwork, professionalism, safety, and exceptional customer service.
- Help resolve customer concerns while maintaining long-term relationships built on trust and performance.
- Represent Cover It Painting at industry events, trade organizations, networking groups, and community functions.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve operations, increase profitability, expand market share, and strengthen the company's reputation throughout the construction industry.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in one or more of the following:
- Proven success in Business Development, Outside Sales, or Account Management within the commercial construction industry.
- Building, managing, and expanding long-term relationships with General Contractors, Developers, Owners, Architects, and Property Managers.
- Identifying opportunities, developing sales pipelines, negotiating contracts, and closing profitable commercial projects.
- Commercial construction estimating, bid strategy, and preconstruction management.
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- General contracting, commercial painting, specialty subcontracting, or construction management.
- Project management, including customer communication, budgeting, scheduling, and project coordination.
- Leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with Operations, Project Management, and Field Leadership.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, BuildingConnected, SmartBid, Hyphen, Microsoft Office, or similar construction software.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally for customer meetings, job walks, and networking events.
