Business Development Manager
Indexed description
Ready for your next big career move? This one comes with genuine autonomy, uncapped earnings, and a solution you can really stand behind.
- Uncapped commission - the more you sell, the more you earn, with OTE well above base
- Sell something clients already believe in - Citation HR's expert advice and award-winning enableHR technology support 12,000+ businesses across Australia and New Zealand
- Big growth ahead - we're on track to triple in size, and there's a real seat at the table for you
What will you be responsible for?
You'll join the Citation HR Sales team, reporting directly to the Sales Director. Here's a taste of what the role involves:
- Own a high-impact pipeline end-to-end - proactively identifying, qualifying and progressing new business opportunities across Australia and New Zealand
- Run engaging demonstrations of our HR advisory services and the enableHR platform, tailoring each pitch to the specific challenges your prospect is facing
- Generate a solid chunk of your own leads - this is a true hunter role, not a lead-management job
- Put together sharp, commercially-sound proposals, pricing and contracts that genuinely work for the customer
- Get out there and represent Citation HR and enableHR at events, webinars and trade shows - growing your network and raising our profile
- Bring market intelligence and client feedback back to the business, helping steer go-to-market strategy for Citation HR and the broader Citation Group
Who we’re looking for
You spot an opportunity and chase it, without needing to be asked twice. On top of that drive, here's what else will help you thrive in this role:
- 5-10 years in a BDM role, or 3+ years if you've come from a payroll or HR tech background
- SaaS or tech sales background is essential - bonus points if that's within payroll or HR tech
- You'll need solid Salesforce skills; HubSpot know-how is a plus but not essential
- Genuine hunter instincts - self-sufficient, target-driven, and energised by winning new business
- A consultative approach to selling - you dig into the detail, build trust, and land on the right solution every time
- Confident in front of C-suite and senior stakeholders, and skilled at closing more complex deals
Why join Citation Group?
We like to think we're a bit different - Employer of Choice for 9 years running, and we're genuinely proud of the culture behind that title. Here's what that looks like day to day:
🏠 Flexible working, not just a buzzword - we mean genuine work/life balance.
💰 Competitive salary plus benefits and uncapped commission.
👶 Parental leave up to 12 weeks paid, because family always comes first.
🎂 Birthday leave - no one should have to work on their birthday, full stop.
🌍 Volunteer day - a paid day each year for the causes that matter to you.
✈️ Reward & recognition done properly - think trips to Bali, not just a gift card.
🚀 Serious growth - we're tripling in size, so your ceiling is a long way up.
🤝 High trust culture - we trust our people to get on with it
Who is Citation Group?
At Citation Group we bring together real-world HR, Safety, Legal and Certification expertise along with adaptable workforce management and payroll technology - helping businesses run with confidence every day.
We're growing fast, thinking big, and doing right by businesses across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK.
