Senior Business Development Manager — Competition, Consumer & International

Up to $200K package | Sydney CBD | 2 days WFH | Top‑tier Australian law firm

Our client is a leading Australian commercial law firm is seeking a Business Development Manager to support its high‑performing Competition, Consumer & International practice. You’ll work directly with the Practice Leads to shape strategy, drive growth and strengthen client relationships.

About the Role:

• Co‑create and deliver the practice BD plan with partners
• Develop and review partner and managing associate BD plans to drive disciplined execution.
• Identify and share market, client and competitor insights, translating them into practical next steps (outreach prompts, meeting prep, prospecting ideas).
• Lead tenders and pursuits, partnering with lawyers on strategy, value propositions, written materials and pitch preparation.
• Engage directly with clients, coordinate feedback discussions and ensure follow‑through on agreed actions.
• Partner with Marketing & Communications to deliver targeted campaigns, thought leadership and events aligned to priority sectors and clients.
• Use BD systems, CRM and pursuit frameworks effectively; collaborate with BD colleagues across practices to ensure a consistent, high‑quality client experience.
• Coordinate international BD activity, including alliance partner engagement, referral tracking, briefing preparation, and support for overseas trips and conferences.
• Provide research, insight and high‑quality presentations to support partner decision making and global relationship management.

About You

• 5–8+ years’ Business Development experience in a leading law firm
• Experience creating strategy with Practice leaders
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to turn insight into practical action
• Confident and polished communicator with strong judgement and disciplined follow through
• Collaborative, commercially sharp and comfortable operating in a fast paced team
• Curious, resilient and have a willingness to continue to learn and develop your own skill set
• Confident with technology systems, tools and interested in what's to come with AI for the area
