Role Description
This is a full-time, onsite position based in Chattanooga, TN.
The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading, managing, and developing a high-performing Business Development team while driving the organization’s growth strategy through revenue generation, strategic partnerships, and market expansion.
This role provides leadership, coaching and accountability to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and results. Working closely with Operations, Laboratory, Marketing, and Executive Leadership, the Director ensures business development initiatives align with organizational goals and operational capabilities.
As Designer Drugs Labs continues to expand its national presence in specialty compounding and healthcare services, this leader will build scalable processes, strengthen customer relationships, develop future leaders, and drive sustainable long-term growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to lead, coach, develop a high-performing business development team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results.
- Develop and execute the organization's business development strategy to support long-term revenue growth and market expansion.
- Establish sales goals, performance metrics, and forecasting processes to ensure achievement of organization objectives.
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor business development professionals while building a scalable team.
- Drive growth of key accounts and strategic partnerships through effective relationship management and business development.
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities, customer segments, and strategic partnerships that support organizational growth initiatives.
- Drive expansion of products and services within existing accounts through relationship management, business development, and consultative selling practices.
- Monitor sales pipeline activity, conversion metrics, and revenue performance to identify opportunities and risks.
- Implement and maintain sales processes, CRM utilization standards, and reporting practices that improve efficiency and scalability.
- Partner with Operations, Lab and Executive Leadership to align commercial initiatives with organizational priorities and customer needs.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback to identify growth opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure all sales activities comply with applicable regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with Marketing to support lead generation, brand initiatives, trade shows, conferences, and customer engagement strategies.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience, team effectiveness, and business growth.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive sales experience with demonstrated success in business development, account management, and revenue growth.
- 5+ years of sales leadership experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in Contract Negotiation, with the ability to structure agreements that support long-term partnerships and organizational objectives.
- Strong Account Management capabilities, including relationship building, retention strategies, and ongoing client support.
- Prior experience in pharmacy, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or related industries is highly beneficial.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site in Chattanooga, TN, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Pharmacy, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing projects or teams in a business development or sales environment.

Compensation and Benefit Summary:
Compensation will be determined based on skills, education, and experience. Compensation includes eligibility for performance-based quarterly bonuses.
