The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a central role in developing customer propositions to meet the strategic needs of our water company clients. The BDM will establish excellent relationships with clients across the UK which will underpin the successful delivery of our business plan targets. The purpose of the role is to identify, develop and drive a strategic opportunity pipeline for long-term success, building strong customer and industry relationships.
Responsibilities
- Customer focus: Develop strong trusting relationships with clients and strategic partners in alignment with growth plans, working closely with delivery leaders
- Client planning: Develop and maintain strategic growth plans for larger opportunities to meet ambitions within the water sector strategy and business plan
- Opportunity pipeline: Develop and maintains an accurate pipeline of opportunities in the Dynamics CRM system to align with water sector strategy and following governance processes
- Shaping Solutions: Lead and support the early shaping stage of strategic opportunities, building differentiated propositions with clients through market engagement and creating new solutions to align with their capability and capacity needs
- Organisational Engagement: Support the development of an informed and connected business by engaging extensively with internal cross-company subject matter experts and teams (including Sectors, Commercial, Work Winning, Engineering Services and Corporate Functions)
- Work Winning: Maintain full compliance with Work Winning Governance and business planning activities. Oversee technical and commercial development during the tender phases to ensure customer focused solutions
- Strong networker who actively builds rapport, listens to client needs and communicates effectively across the team
- Experienced in leading and/or managing multi-disciplined teams
- Creative & able to influence/develop new concepts and value propositions
- Demonstrable and proven organisational skills and project management capability
- Adept analytical skills to enable effective development of understanding and insight of complex data
- Relevant degree level qualification
- Experience of leading and/or managing successful bid campaigns in an infrastructure environment
- Experience and understanding of the water or utilities industry
- Technical or commercial background in intensive capital delivery environments including major consultancy, design and/or construction programmes
