About 10 CAN, Inc.

10 CAN, Inc. (the Christian Adventure Network) is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by a wounded warrior. Our mission is to honor, revive, and grow military and first responder families through faith, peer support, outdoor recreation, education, and rehabilitation. We serve those who have served us — combat veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and their families — through programs focused on suicide prevention, traumatic stress management, workforce development, and traditional life skills like hunting, fishing, and butchery.

We believe in the healing power of the outdoors, the strength of community, and the transformative impact of mission-aligned partnerships. Now, we are growing — and we need a passionate, driven Business Development Manager to help us expand our reach, revenue, and impact.

Position Overview

The Business Development Manager is a key leadership role responsible for generating sustainable revenue and building the strategic relationships that fuel 10 CAN's mission. This individual will drive growth across sponsorships, individual and corporate giving, grant funding, partnerships, membership, and volunteer recruitment. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder, a strategic thinker, and a confident communicator who is comfortable making the ask and cultivating long-term engagement.

This is more than a fundraising role — it is an opportunity to be a catalyst for growth at an organization that is changing lives.

Key Responsibilities Revenue Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with 10 CAN's annual revenue goals
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations (gear, equipment, event sponsorships, etc.)
  • Build and manage a portfolio of individual donors, including major gifts and recurring giving programs
  • Research, identify, and pursue grant funding opportunities in collaboration with the grant writing team
  • Plan and support fundraising events, campaigns, and community initiatives
  • Track revenue pipeline, donor relationships, and sponsorship status using CRM tools

Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Recruit and onboard strategic community and corporate partners aligned with 10 CAN's mission
  • Represent 10 CAN at community events, networking functions, trade shows, and partnership meetings
  • Develop co-branded initiatives and cause-marketing opportunities with partner organizations
  • Build relationships with outdoor industry brands, veteran service organizations, faith-based communities, and local businesses

Member & Volunteer Recruitment

  • Grow 10 CAN's membership base through targeted outreach and engagement campaigns
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to support programs, events, and operations
  • Create pathways for community members, veterans, and supporters to deepen their involvement
  • Collaborate with program staff to match volunteers and members to appropriate opportunities

Reporting & Strategy

  • Maintain accurate records of all business development activities, donor interactions, and partnership status
  • Provide regular reports on revenue progress, pipeline health, and relationship status to leadership
  • Contribute to strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives
  • Stay current on nonprofit sector trends, funding landscapes, and best practices in donor engagement

Ideal Candidate Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, business development, sales, sponsorship sales, corporate partnerships, or community outreach
  • Demonstrated success in securing sponsorships, donors, or grant funding
  • Experience in or strong connection to the military, veteran, or first responder communities is a plus
  • Familiarity with outdoor recreation, adaptive sports, or faith-based nonprofit sectors is a plus

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident in making direct asks and negotiating partnership agreements
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Relationship-first mindset — you genuinely enjoy connecting people and organizations
  • Strategic thinker who can see the big picture while executing on details
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, mission-driven environment
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, Google Workspace, and social media tools
  • Self-starter

Mission Alignment

  • Deep alignment with 10 CAN's mission to serve military, veterans, first responders, youth, and their families
  • Appreciation for faith-based organizational values and the role of community in healing
  • Passion for the outdoors and belief in the therapeutic power of outdoor recreation
