📍 Location: Hybrid – London (with UK travel)
🕒 Employment Type: Full-time
At MEJI, we're on a mission to make West African food a staple in every household. We believe authentic West African flavours deserve the same convenience and accessibility as any other cuisine. That's why we created our flagship 90-second Jollof Rice—bringing a much-loved dish to busy people in a convenient, affordable format.
Since launching, we've secured listings in 400+ Sainsbury's stores and continue to grow across retail, wholesale and e-commerce. But we're only just getting started. We're now looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to help accelerate the next stage of our growth.
This is more than a sales role.
You'll work directly alongside our leadership team, helping shape MEJI's commercial growth by opening new doors, building strategic partnerships and bringing our products to more retailers and customers across the UK.
If you're entrepreneurial, commercially minded and excited by the idea of helping build a challenger food brand, we'd love to hear from you.
- Drive new business opportunities across retail, wholesale, foodservice and strategic partnerships.
- Build strong relationships with buyers, distributors and commercial partners.
- Own and develop a healthy sales pipeline.
- Lead customer meetings, product presentations and commercial negotiations.
- Support the onboarding and launch of new customers.
- Work closely with Marketing and Operations to ensure successful launches.
- Represent MEJI at trade shows, networking events and industry exhibitions.
- Monitor market trends and identify new commercial opportunities.
- Report on pipeline activity, sales performance and commercial forecasts.
- Work directly with the Founder to execute MEJI's growth strategy.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience in Business Development, Sales or Commercial roles.
- FMCG, food & drink or consumer goods experience (preferred).
- A track record of winning new business and growing commercial relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Confidence working with buyers and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, self-starting mindset.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A genuine passion for challenger brands and building something from the ground up.
You'll be joining at one of the most exciting stages of our journey.
This is a chance to work directly with the Founder and play a meaningful role in scaling a fast-growing food brand with national retail listings already in place.
Your ideas will be heard, your impact will be visible, and you'll have real ownership from day one.
If you want to help build the next generation of household food brands, we'd love to hear from you.
- Competitive salary
- Performance-based bonus
- Hybrid working
- Opportunities to attend industry events and trade shows
- Genuine career progression as the business grows
- The chance to help build a category-defining food brand
