Position: Account Manager

Location: Fort Wayne, IN (Onsite)


Summary

This Account Manager role is designed to prepare high-potential professionals for a future career in Strategic Account Management. This role provides hands-on exposure to customer relationship management, technical sales, product applications, and business development within the commercial furniture industry.


The Account Manager partners with Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and Operations to support smaller OEM customers, identify growth opportunities, and deliver customer-focused solutions. Direct outreach and communication to prospective and existing customers to drive share gain is central to this role. Through direct customer interaction, market research, technical learning, and cross-functional collaboration, this role develops the commercial and technical foundation needed to successfully manage strategic customer relationships.


This position is ideal for a motivated individual with strong communication skills, technical aptitude, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to build a career in strategic sales and account management.


What You'll Do

Build Customer & Market Knowledge

  • Research existing and target customers, market segments, and emerging opportunities to support strategic account growth.
  • Develop customer profiles, competitive intelligence, and market insights that help identify new business opportunities.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and manufacturing practices affecting assigned customer base.
  • Build relationships with customer contacts while gaining an understanding of their business, products, and strategic priorities.


Support Customer Growth

  • Direct outreach and communication to prospective and existing customers to drive share gain.
  • Execute account plans and support key customer initiatives.
  • Prepare customer proposals and presentations.
  • Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and product discussions to develop commercial and technical expertise.
  • Coordinate follow-up on customer inquiries, quotations, samples, and project activities to ensure timely execution.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and Operations to deliver customer solutions.


Develop Commercial & Technical Expertise

  • Gain a strong understanding of Dekko's products, manufacturing capabilities, and value proposition.
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback, technical requirements, and market intelligence to internal teams.
  • Help identify opportunities for product improvements, new applications, and business growth.
  • Assist in resolving customer issues by coordinating with internal resources to deliver timely solutions.


Contribute to Account Success

  • Maintain CRM records, sales activity, and project tracking to support account planning.
  • Monitor account activity and sales performance while identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Participate in cross-functional launch teams and customer development projects.
  • Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and continuous learning while preparing for increased customer ownership and future Strategic Account Manager responsibilities.


What You’ll Bring:

  • 1–5 years of experience in sales, engineering, product management, customer service, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in technical sales, strategic account management, or business development.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to learn technical products and effectively communicate with engineering, product management, operations, and customer teams.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations, industry events, and manufacturing facilities. (Travel estimated is 10% and may increase with experience)


Education, Certificates & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, or a Bachelor's degree in progress, in a technical or business-related field; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree
