Position Overview
Access Sciences provides document control and drawing validation and integration specialists to manage the flow of information in capital project construction for clients in many industries. We help our clients reduce risk, achieve compliance with standards, and improve operational efficiency and decision making.
We want to aggressively grow this line of business and are seeking a Business Development Manager focused on identifying new document control and drawing management opportunities within these industries. This role will focus on building relationships with firms that design, build, and operate complex capital projects, helping position our expertise in document control and drawing management as a practical and high-value service.
Opportunities may range from supporting a single embedded document controller or Revit integrator to standing up a small team or providing outsourced support, depending on client needs. We currently operate within the United States and have identified a defined set of target accounts where we see strong alignment and opportunity.
Key Responsibilities For This Role Include
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities. Utilize strong "hunting" capabilities to uncover and pursue leads. Engage in qualifying discussions with prospects to understand their unique challenges, budget constraints, and decision timeframes.
- Conduct market analysis to understand potential clients, capital project construction outlook and plans, and industry trends and use insights to shape near-term and long-term goals to expand Access Sciences document control and drawing management client base.
- Work closely with practice directors and the professional services delivery team to devise strategies for pursuing and winning new engagements. Identify target organizations and personas.
- Vet opportunities and make recommendations (i.e., conduct a go-no-go evaluation with leadership) and move forward with qualifying prospects and shaping opportunities
- Monitor personal performance against established KPIs within Access Sciences' Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool and continuously evaluate process improvements
- Collaborate with the Marketing department and EIM practice director to develop marketing messages, participate in sector-specific conferences and other marketing events and support campaigns
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or other related field
- 5+ years' experience in business development sales activities
- Experience in selling professional services
- Knowledge of architectural/engineering and construction documentation and processes
- Industry knowledge in energy/oil and gas, engineering and construction, or manufacturing
- Fluent with Microsoft 365 Suite, especially PowerPoint
- Salesforce knowledge a plus
- HubSpot knowledge a plus
- Strong capability in lead generation
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at every level
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Takes the initiative to learn and apply new skills and tools
- Ability to reprioritize, as necessary, while continuing to meet deadlines
- Critical and analytical thinking skills
- A problem solver, able to clearly articulate fit-for-purpose recommendations
- Certification from an accredited sales training program (e.g., Sandler Training) a plus
- Flexible and willing to work after hours and across time zones, as needed
- Must have a valid TX driver's license and reliable transportation
- Approximately 30% travel required
- Resides within 60 miles of the Houston, TX office
- Hybrid work schedule with designated in-office days
