The Opportunity

Acts as subject matter expert to drive revenue, translating customer needs into tailored product solutions. Partners with field sales teams to deliver scientific consultation for highly specialized/technical products and/or services. Provides product demonstrations and application expertise that drive customer engagement and revenue growth, supporting the promotion and adoption of specialized, scientific products or services across a defined territory or customer segment. Engages with customers through a combination of in-person visits and digital channels to support the sales process, address technical inquiries, and ensure a high-quality customer experience. Contributes to regional sales strategy by identifying growth opportunities, gathering market intelligence, and supporting product positioning efforts. Applies technical knowledge and commercial insight to influence purchasing decisions and support both tactical execution and strategic account development.

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager – AFH is responsible for driving growth of Avantor Fluid Handling (AFH) solutions in Korea. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and managing new and existing customer accounts for key AFH product lines, including Single-Use Assemblies, Masterflex® Pumps & Tubing, and Magnetic Mixers.

The role requires close collaboration with customers, internal sales teams, and global headquarters to develop and execute sales strategies, provide technical and commercial support, and ensure successful project execution from opportunity identification through order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Strategy

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to grow AFH business in the Korean market
  • Identify and develop new customer opportunities across biopharmaceutical, life sciences, and related industries
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to drive sustainable growth
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline aligned with regional and global business objectives

Customer Management & Development

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and decision-makers
  • Act as the primary commercial and technical contact for assigned accounts
  • Lead customer discussions including product presentations, technical clarification, and solution proposals
  • Support customers throughout the sales cycle, from early-stage development to commercialization

Technical & Commercial Support

  • Provide sales and technical consultation for AFH products, including:
    • Single-Use Assemblies
    • Masterflex® Pumps and Tubing
    • Magnetic Mixing Systems
  • Collaborate with technical teams and global product specialists to address complex customer requirements
  • Support product selection, application discussions, and system configuration
Quotation & Project Execution

  • Prepare and manage pricing, quotations, and commercial proposals
  • Coordinate order processing and project execution with internal stakeholders
  • Lead expedite and follow-up activities with global headquarters to ensure on-time delivery
  • Manage customer expectations related to lead times, specifications, and changes

Internal & Global Collaboration

  • Act as a key liaison between Korean customers and global AFH teams
  • Coordinate with supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and customer service teams
  • Facilitate effective communication between local sales teams and headquarters
  • Provide market feedback to support product development and portfolio optimization

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in business development or technical sales within biopharma or life sciences
  • Strong understanding of fluid handling, single-use systems, or bioprocessing technologies preferred
  • Proven experience managing complex customer accounts and sales projects
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional and global teams

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen with technical understanding
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working with global teams and handling cross-cultural communication
  • Proficiency in English and Korean (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
