Membership Manager

Reports To: Executive Director

Classification: Full-Time, Non-exempt

Salary Range: $45-48,000 base salary plus commission opportunities, commensurate with experience, plus comprehensive benefits.

Position Overview

The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & Convention & Visitors Bureau (LGRCC&CVB) is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Membership Manager to lead the Chamber's membership growth, retention, and engagement efforts.


This position is responsible for identifying and recruiting new members, cultivating long-term relationships with existing members, increasing sponsorship revenue, and ensuring members receive exceptional value from their Chamber investment. The Membership Manager serves as the primary ambassador for Chamber membership throughout the Lake George region.

The ideal candidate is an experienced sales and relationship-building professional who enjoys meeting business owners, developing partnerships, networking within the community, and helping local businesses succeed.


Working closely with the Executive Director, Marketing Director, and Membership Marketing & Engagement Coordinator, the Membership Manager will focus on strategic membership growth while the Membership Marketing & Engagement Coordinator provides administrative, marketing, event, and communication support.

Essential Responsibilities

Membership Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute annual membership recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline using Simpleview CRM.
  • Prospect new businesses through networking, referrals, cold calling, community outreach, and direct sales visits.
  • Conduct membership presentations and communicate the value of Chamber investment.
  • Meet or exceed annual membership and revenue goals.
  • Identify opportunities for membership upgrades, sponsorships, advertising, and enhanced engagement.
  • Track all sales activity, prospect interactions, and member communications within the CRM.

Member Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for Chamber members.
  • Conduct regular member visits and business check-ins.
  • Build strong relationships with business owners, managers, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders.
  • Develop retention strategies that increase member satisfaction and long-term participation.
  • Address member concerns and identify opportunities to increase engagement.
  • Promote Chamber benefits, programs, educational opportunities, networking events, and sponsorship opportunities.

Strategic Membership Growth

  • Analyze membership trends and recommend strategies for growth.
  • Develop annual membership recruitment campaigns in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
  • Identify underserved business sectors and targeted recruitment opportunities.
  • Utilize membership data to improve recruitment, retention, and engagement.
  • Prepare membership reports and performance metrics for leadership and the Board of Directors.

Sponsorship & Revenue Development

  • Identify sponsorship opportunities for Chamber events and programs.
  • Develop sponsorship packages and proposals.
  • Meet with prospective sponsors and maintain sponsor relationships.
  • Collaborate with Chamber staff to maximize sponsorship visibility and value.

Community Engagement

  • Represent the Chamber at community events, networking functions, ribbon cuttings, business celebrations, and regional meetings.
  • Build relationships with municipal leaders, partner organizations, and economic development agencies.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the Chamber throughout the region.
  • Participate in committee meetings and organizational initiatives as assigned.

Leadership & Collaboration

Work collaboratively with:

  • Executive Director
  • Marketing Director
  • Membership Marketing & Engagement Coordinator
  • Sales & Services Team
  • Visitor Services Staff

Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing membership priorities and goals.
  • Collaborating on membership marketing campaigns.
  • Supporting new member onboarding strategy.
  • Identifying member engagement opportunities.
  • Providing guidance on member communications and promotional initiatives.
  • Assisting with organizational planning and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities Supported by the Membership Marketing & Engagement Coordinator

The Membership Marketing & Engagement Coordinator provides administrative and marketing support for:

  • Membership event administration
  • Event registration and logistics
  • Member communications and reminders
  • New member onboarding coordination
  • Website event postings
  • Social media event promotion
  • Ribbon cutting coordination
  • Member promotional opportunities
  • Newsletter content coordination
  • Brochure inventory and collateral management
  • Membership engagement tracking
  • Administrative follow-up and reporting

This partnership allows the Membership Manager to focus on relationship-building, sales, and strategic membership growth.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Tourism, Sales, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum of three to five years of successful business-to-business sales, membership, fundraising, account management, or business development experience.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales and revenue goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and business technology.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred

  • Chamber of Commerce, association, nonprofit, hospitality, tourism, or economic development experience.
  • Knowledge of the Lake George region and local business community.
  • Experience with sponsorship sales.
  • Familiarity with Simpleview CRM or similar membership management systems.

  • Contribution to overall Chamber strategic objectives.

Work Environment

This position combines office work with significant time spent out in the community meeting with current and prospective members. The position requires occasional evening and weekend attendance at Chamber programs, networking events, ribbon cuttings, and community functions.

Routine travel throughout Warren County and the surrounding region is expected.
