Business Development & Sales Leader
Location: San Diego, CA (Fully Remote)
Please Note: Candidates must reside in the San Diego metropolitan area as this role requires frequent in-person networking, client meetings, conferences, and industry events throughout the San Diego and Southern California market.

Compensation: OTE $250K+

As they continue expanding their presence throughout California, the Founders are seeking a Business Development & Sales Leader to establish and grow their presence in the San Diego life sciences market, while developing strategic partnerships throughout Southern California.

This is not a transactional sales role. They are looking for someone who understands consultative and conceptual selling, thrives in complex professional services environments, and enjoys building trusted relationships with founders, executives, investors, attorneys, bankers, CPA firms, and other strategic partners.
The successful candidate will own the full business development lifecycle—from developing strategic referral partnerships and generating new opportunities to leading sophisticated sales conversations and closing high-value engagements.
This individual will serve as the firm's primary representative within the San Diego life sciences ecosystem, becoming a visible ambassador while helping expand the firm's already exceptional reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Partner with the Founders to develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy focused on expanding the firm's presence throughout the San Diego and Southern California life sciences and biotechnology markets.
- Generate qualified opportunities through networking, strategic partnerships, referrals, conferences, and targeted outreach.
- Build relationships with life sciences founders, executives, finance leaders, investors, law firms, CPA firms, bankers, and other key referral partners.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and develop strategies to expand the firm's client base.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and consistently achieve revenue growth objectives.
Consultative Sales
- Lead discovery meetings to understand prospective clients' business and financial challenges.
- Position the firm's comprehensive outsourced accounting and finance services as strategic business solutions.
- Prepare proposals, pricing recommendations, and customized engagement strategies.
- Manage opportunities throughout the complete sales cycle while delivering an exceptional client experience.
- Partner closely with executive leadership during complex opportunities and negotiations.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain long-term referral relationships with strategic partners.
- Represent the organization at conferences, networking events, industry associations, and life sciences organizations to increase brand awareness and cultivate new business opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships that generate ongoing referral opportunities.
Strategic Collaboration
- Partner with executive leadership to refine the firm's go-to-market strategy.
- Share market intelligence, competitive insights, and client feedback.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns, events, and lead generation initiatives.
- Help identify new opportunities for growth and market expansion.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of business development, sales, or client relationship experience, with a well-developed network within the life sciences sector.
- Must have at least a 50% portfolio of life science clients.
- Demonstrated success selling professional services, consulting, outsourced services, financial services, or other complex B2B solutions.
- Experience working with venture-backed startups across the life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, or med-tech industries is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to generate business through networking, referrals, strategic partnerships, and industry events.
- Bachelor's degree required; an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
