Vargo is recruiting for a dynamic funder that operates as both a lender and a broker, providing alternative lending solutions to SMEs across the UK. They are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a sales-focused professional with experience in SME lending, asset finance or commercial finance to develop new business, build lasting customer relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
The successful candidate will be confident generating opportunities through a combination of referrals, networking, marketing campaigns and proactive cold calling, while delivering an outstanding customer experience throughout the funding process.
Responsibilities
- Generate new business opportunities and convert prospects into customers.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of SME clients.
- Develop long-term relationships and become a trusted funding partner to customers.
- Structure and submit high-quality finance proposals to lenders and credit teams.
- Follow up on leads from marketing activity and other business development channels.
- Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets and performance objectives.
- Attend networking events and identify opportunities to grow your professional network.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular pipeline updates.
- Manage customer enquiries and deliver a high level of service throughout the funding journey.
- Work closely with colleagues across the business to support shared objectives.
- Ensure all activity is conducted in line with FCA regulations and company policies.
- Proven track record in business development, sales or relationship management within asset finance, commercial finance or SME lending.
- Comfortable generating new business through networking, referrals and cold outreach.
- Strong understanding of lending products and the funding process.
- Ability to structure and present finance applications effectively.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Highly motivated, target-driven and commercially focused.
