As we continue to expand our presence in high-growth sectors such as Data Centres and Renewable Energy, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Developer to drive growth and strengthen our market position within these key industries.

This role is focused on developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, promoting IPD's extensive portfolio of electrical distribution products and solutions, and delivering value-driven outcomes tailored to the unique requirements of these rapidly evolving markets.

Reporting to the General Manager - Strategic Solutions, this role will be based in either our Wetherill Park, NSW or Noble Park, VIC office and will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and supporting the delivery of sustainable long-term growth.

About the role:

National Business Development - Data Centre and Renewable Energy Sectors will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the data centre and renewable energy markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the data centre and renewable energy sectors, including hyperscale data centres, colocation facilities, solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including data centre operators, renewable energy developers, consulting engineers, contractors, and end-users.
  • Solution Selling: Collaborate with clients to understand their technical and operational requirements, recommending IPD’s electrical distribution products (e.g., switchboards, circuit protection, power monitoring, and automation solutions) to deliver efficient, reliable, and sustainable outcomes.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets, expand market share, and strengthen IPD’s brand presence in the data centre and renewable energy sectors.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent IPD at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our solutions, network with key decision-makers, and stay informed on market trends and emerging technologies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IPD’s technical, product, and marketing teams to develop customized solutions, proposals, and presentations that align with client needs and industry standards.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes in the data centre and renewable energy sectors to identify opportunities and inform IPD’s business strategy.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on sales performance, pipeline development, and market insights to the Sales Managers and senior leadership team.

Skills and Experiences:

About You:

The successful candidate will combine technical knowledge, strategic sales expertise, and a passion for sustainability to drive IPD’s growth and market leadership.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of business development or sales experience in the electrical distribution, data centre, or renewable energy sectors. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and securing major projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical distribution products (e.g., low-voltage switchgear, power monitoring, circuit protection) and their application in data centres and renewable energy projects.
  • Industry Expertise: Familiarity with the data centre market (e.g., power infrastructure, cooling systems, uptime requirements) and renewable energy systems (e.g., solar inverters, energy storage, grid integration).
  • Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders, from technical engineers to C-suite executives.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute a targeted sales strategy, leveraging market insights and IPD’s product portfolio to drive growth.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, business, or a related field is preferred. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., data centre design, renewable energy systems) are a plus.
  • Sustainability Focus: Passion for promoting energy-efficient and sustainable solutions in line with IPD’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as required to meet clients, attend industry events, and visit project sites.
