Job Title: Commercial Sales Consultant, MDU
Department: Sales – MDU (Multi Dwelling Unit)
Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 Annual Base Salary (Good Faith Estimate) + Variable Compensation Plan
Reports To: Executive Leadership Team
Location: Remote / Field-Based (TX, FL, UT, WA, AZ Preferred)
Travel: Approximately 50% - 75%
Position Overview:
A premier home security company is seeking an experienced Sales Leader to drive growth, expand market presence, and lead new customer acquisition initiatives across key U.S. markets. This individual will play a critical role in developing strategic partnerships, generating new business opportunities, and accelerating revenue growth within the multi-dwelling unit (MDU) sector. The Commercial Sales Consultant, MDU is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU), Multifamily, and Build-to-Rent (BTR) markets. This highly visible, revenue-generating role focuses on building relationships with property ownership groups, developers, management companies, and industry partners to drive new customer acquisition and long-term growth.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a field-based environment, enjoys networking and prospecting, and is motivated by creating new revenue opportunities. This position will spend significant time meeting with prospective partners, attending industry events, visiting properties, and developing strategic relationships across assigned markets.
Essential Job Duties:
- Develop and execute business development strategies to drive new MDU and BTR partnerships
- Prospect, identify, and secure new multifamily, apartment, and build-to-rent opportunities within assigned territories
- Establish and maintain relationships with ownership groups, developers, property management companies, REITs, and other key decision-makers
- Generate new sales opportunities through cold outreach, networking, referrals, industry events, and market research
- Conduct in-person meetings, property visits, presentations, and partnership discussions with prospective clients
- Negotiate partnership terms and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support successful contract execution
- Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and accurately track activities within company CRM systems
- Collaborate with sales, operations, installation, and leadership teams to ensure successful onboarding and long-term partner satisfaction
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities within the multifamily and BTR industries
- Represent the company at conferences, trade associations, networking events, and industry functions
- Consistently achieve and exceed established revenue, partnership, and business development goals
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of business development, outside sales, strategic partnerships, or multifamily industry experience preferred
- Experience selling into property management, multifamily housing, real estate, telecommunications, security, smart home, or related industries strongly preferred
- Proven track record of generating new business and exceeding revenue goals
- Strong relationship-building, networking, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently while managing a large geographic territory
- Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and business development tools
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and business needs.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a variable compensation plan tied to business development, partnership acquisition, revenue generation, and other performance-based objectives.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
This role is performed in a combination of office, remote office, and field environments. Individuals must be able to:
- Travel extensively by automobile and airplane
- Walk properties, construction sites, apartment communities, and commercial facilities
- Sit for extended periods while working at a computer
- Use hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and operating standard office equipment
- Frequently communicate verbally in person, by phone, email, and video conferencing
- Occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, and navigate properties as required during business meetings and site visits
