Business Development Manager – Valve Automation

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Reports to:

Compensation: $80,000–$85,000 base + incentives (OTE $120,000–$130,000)

Your Role:

This role drives growth of the valve automation business across an assigned territory, serving as the primary technical and sales point of contact for customers with complex valve, actuation, and instrumentation needs. The Business Development Manager builds lasting relationships and shepherds opportunities from first contact through project completion.


What You’ll Do:

  • Build and grow relationships with new and existing valve automation customers across the assigned territory
  • Manage and prioritize a pipeline of in-house and field opportunities from initial identification through proposal, execution, and follow-up
  • Serve as the on-site technical resource for valve automation solutions, including valves, actuators, and related instrumentation (solenoids, switch boxes, digital positioners, etc.)
  • Partner with the inside sales team to translate customer requirements into accurate design packages
  • Support installation, maintenance, and commissioning work as needed, applying relevant industry codes and standards (ANSI, ASME, API, IEC, etc.) throughout the sales and delivery process
  • Look for opportunities to expand the value delivered to customers while growing incremental business


What You’ll Bring:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to navigate difficult or emotional customer situations calmly and professionally
  • Working knowledge of isolation valves, actuators, and related control equipment
  • Strong attention to detail, with solid organizational and time management skills
  • Comfort working independently with minimal supervision, along with strong situational awareness and a genuine commitment to safety
  • Proficiency with standard business software (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to work across multiple systems
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight trips, and physical comfort navigating industrial job sites (ladders, scaffolding, lifts, etc.); valid driver's license and personal vehicle required (vehicle reimbursement provided)
