Role Description
The Internal Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Wakefield. This position is responsible for developing and expanding the waste portfolio by identifying new business opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, and managing a pipeline of leads. Day-to-day tasks include responding to inbound inquiries, making outbound calls, preparing quotations, and following up to convert prospects into long-term customers. The Internal Business Development Manager will monitor market trends in the waste sector, contribute to sales strategies, and support the creation of promotional campaigns to drive growth.
Qualifications
- Business development and sales skills, including lead generation, pipeline management, and account management within B2B environments.
- Experience or strong interest in the waste, construction, or equipment hire sector, with the ability to understand typical customer requirements and site operations.
- Communication and interpersonal skills, including confident phone manner, negotiation abilities, and relationship-building with clients and internal teams.
- Organisational and administrative skills, such as CRM usage, accurate data entry, quotation preparation, and activity tracking.
- Problem-solving and customer service skills to handle queries, resolve issues, and ensure a positive client experience.
- Comfort working in an on-site office environment in Wakefield, with the ability to collaborate closely with operations and logistics colleagues.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, word processing) and willingness to learn internal systems.
- Previous experience in internal sales, telesales, or business development is highly beneficial; a background in waste management or hire services is an advantage.
- Ability to work to targets, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced commercial setting.
