Airswift is working in partnership with a world leader in highly engineered valves for the most severe services, specializing in valve manufacturing and services for Oil & Gas and Mining sectors. They are currently seeking a skilled Business Development - Upstream to join their team.
About the Role
Airswift is partnering with a global valve manufacturer to hire an Business Development - Upstream to drive business development across North America, focusing on upstream and offshore markets.
This position is based in Houston, Texas (Hybrid) and reports directly to the USA Director. The successful candidate will play a key role in building market presence, developing strategic relationships, and positioning the company with major operators, EPCs, OEMs, and service providers.
Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Lead business development efforts across North America, with a strong focus on Houston and key upstream/offshore accounts
- Develop and execute a 2–5 year growth strategy to strengthen market positioning within the upstream segment
- Identify and secure early project opportunities, driving initial approvals and building pipeline from scratch
- Map territories, customer segments, and sales potential across offshore and onshore markets
- Target key clients including operators, EPCs, OEMs, and oilfield service companies
Customer Engagement & Account Management
- Build and manage long-term relationships with major operators and key stakeholders
- Navigate complex and lengthy qualification cycles, maintaining consistent engagement to advance opportunities
- Act as a trusted commercial partner, understanding customer procurement models and decision-making processes
- Maintain a strong presence with clients, representing the company in technical and commercial discussions
Technical & Commercial Interface
- Collaborate with HQ teams in Spain (engineering, proposals, project management, finance) to deliver tailored solutions
- Communicate customer requirements effectively to internal stakeholders while supporting solution alignment
- Balance commercial strategy with technical understanding of valves and flow-control applications
Collaboration & Travel
- Work closely with the USA Director on account strategy, market entry, and growth initiatives
- Travel across the U.S. as required to support customer engagement and business development
- Travel internationally (primarily Spain) on occasion to align with global teams and strategy
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Proven experience in upstream Oil & Gas, offshore, oilfield services, EPC, OEM, or related industrial sectors
- Demonstrated success in business development and building pipeline within complex, relationship-driven sales environments
- Experience working with major operators and navigating long sales and approval cycles
Required Skills
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop and execute strategic growth plans
- Excellent client management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers
- Hunter mentality with a proactive approach to lead generation and opportunity development
- Ability to manage both strategic planning and day-to-day execution across multiple accounts
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building capabilities
- Resilience and persistence in progressing opportunities through long sales cycles
- US nationality or Green Card holder required
Preferred Skills
- Technical knowledge of valves or flow-control equipment
- Experience in offshore and upstream applications
- Established network within operators, EPCs, or service companies
- Familiarity with differing procurement models across upstream and offshore markets
- Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) preferred
