The China Desk serves as the primary liaison and specialized support hub for all China-related business activities, facilitating cross-border collaboration, market entry/expansion, and stakeholder engagement. This role acts as a bridge between the Malaysia & Indonesia teams and Chinese partners, clients, and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication, alignment with local practices, and effective execution of China-clients initiatives in Malaysia & Indonesia, who have potential in using WF products & services. The China Desk Officer will leverage deep knowledge, operation capabilities and business strengths of World-first Malaysia & Indonesia, with well implementation of local regulations and risk controls, to enable smooth onboarding and running for Chinese clients in Malaysia & Indonesia,.
Key Responsibilities
1. Liaison & Communication Coordination
- Serve as the central point of contact for all China-related clients, internal partners inquiries, requests, to enable efficient collaborations and deliver friendly experience for China clients and internal partners in Malaysia & Indonesia.
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between Malaysia & Indonesia, global stakeholders (e.g., headquarters, regional offices) and Chinese counterparts, including translation/interpretation support (Mandarin-English-Local language ) for documents, meetings, and communications.
- Coordinate and organize cross-border meetings, calls, and visits (e.g., between Thailand and Chinese partners/clients), including but not limit to logistics, agenda setting, and follow-up actions.
2. Market & Regulatory Support
- Monitor and analyze China clients expanding to Malaysia & Indonesia, trends, industry policies, regulatory changes (e.g., trade regulations, data privacy laws, industry-specific compliance requirements), and competitive landscape, providing timely updates and actionable insights to headquarter and related teams..
3. Business Development & Partnership Support
- Support the identification and cultivation of Chinese clients which will have business or has business in Malaysia & Indonesia,, and collaborating with the business development team to prepare proposals, presentations, and pitch materials tailored to the Chinese clients
- Assist in managing existing partnerships with Chinese clients, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, resolving potential issues, and deepening the client relationship.
- Drive the execution of China clients business in World First Thailand as best as possible, achieving rev KPI each year, and to be well prepared for regular or irregular performance review
4. Cultural & Strategic Advisory
- Provide guidance to global teams on Chinese business culture, etiquette, and communication styles to enhance cross-cultural collaboration and avoid misunderstandings.
- Advise senior leadership on China-specific strategic considerations, including market priorities, risk factors, and opportunities for growth.
- Support internal training initiatives related to Thailand market, culture, and regulatory environment for internal business team, and clients if needed.
5. Ad Hoc Tasks
- Undertake other China-related tasks and projects as assigned by the line manager, including supporting emergency responses, ad hoc research, and cross-departmental initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in International Business, Finance, Economics, marketing and etc. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Fluent in English/local languages (speaking, listening, reading, writing) – able to communicate effectively with global stakeholders, translate complex documents, and facilitate cross-cultural meetings.
- Relevant work experience in a likely China Desk role, international business, cross-border liaison, or China market-related position (experience in the PSP industry is a plus)
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating cross-border activities, engaging with Chinese stakeholders, and strong willingness in driving business
- Strong cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders (global and China).
- Deep knowledge of Malaysia & Indonesia, business culture, market dynamics, regulatory framework, and industry trends.
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills, able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to identify risks and provide actionable solutions.
- Experience in sales frontline and good at BD in local market.
- Good business sense, goal - oriented, persistent and pressure taken.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a global team.
- Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Experience working in a multinational corporation (MNC) or international organization with a focus on China business will be a plus.
