Indianapolis (1 day/week onsite)

Full-Time, Permanent

$105k base + commission

Summary:

Seeking a dynamic scientist to drive business growth in the bioscience sector, focusing on immuno-oncology, gene engineering, and preclinical pharmacology. This is a bench-to-sales opportunity for a recent Ph.D. graduate, current postdoc, or early-career industry scientist with hands-on in vivo research experience who wants to apply their scientific background in a client-facing business development role. No prior sales or business development experience is required, we are looking for strong scientists first and will train the business side.

This role requires 1 day/week onsite at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis with local travel to client sites, vendor showcases, and conferences.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop expertise in the scientific and business aspects of immuno-oncology, gene engineering, and preclinical pharmacology.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by proactively engaging with potential clients and partners, while also managing and growing relationships with existing accounts.
  • Lead negotiations and manage the process of securing contracts with customers.
  • Represent the organization at industry trade shows and conferences to expand professional networks.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to enhance brand visibility and market presence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with leading scientists and industry professionals.
  • Contribute to revenue growth through strategic business development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a biology-related field (e.g., immunology, oncology, molecular/cell biology, pharmacology, genetics) required, no exceptions.
  • Hands-on, direct experience required in one or more of the following: in vivo research, mouse or murine model handling, or pharmacology studies. This experience must be clearly reflected on your resume.
  • Recent Ph.D. graduate, current postdoc, or early-career professional with up to approximately 3 years of industry experience following your Ph.D. This role is designed for scientists very early in their post-graduate career.
  • No prior business development or sales experience required or expected, we are specifically looking for scientists transitioning from the bench into a business-facing role.
  • Strong desire to learn and stay current with advances in biopharmaceutical science and business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enjoyment of networking with top scientists and industry professionals.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally for business purposes.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (F-1/EAD/OPT is acceptable but this role cannot accept H1B, TN, J1, or O visas at this time).
  • Mandarin/English bilingual proficiency is highly preferred but not required.
