Mexens has been operating in India through its subsidiary, Technique Solaire India, since 2015. The company currently owns and operates approximately 350 MW solar assets (operational + under acquisition) with a target to reach 1.2 GW by 2030.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the identification and development of solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) project opportunities in India. The position is based out of Delhi NCR, with regular visits to sites, and reports directly to the Country Director, India. The incumbent will collaborate closely with both the Indian and French development teams (Legal, Finance, Engineering, Procurement…).
The position plays a critical role in scaling Mexens’ footprint in India while ensuring disciplined growth, robust project economics, and progressive build‑up of BESS capabilities.
Key responsibilities
Origination & Business Development (Solar PV & BESS)
- Identify possible sites and secure land, from contacting landowners / aggregators through elaborating and signing a lease agreement
- Identify grid connection or self-consumption solution
- Permits: grid feasibility study, land conversion permits and other authorisations in coordination with EPC
- Support the development of BESS projects: identify opportunities, lead development phases, co-lead country strategy

- Manage the transfer of developed projects to the Project Manager
- Prepare preliminary business plans (financial modelling) and economic assessments, including assumptions on tariffs, CAPEX/OPEX, revenues, risks, and sensitivities.
- Develop and maintain commercial relationship with key industry players including developers, equipment suppliers, EPC and O&M providers
- Support internal investment decision processes by providing clear, structured input for Group governance bodies (CODIR International).
- Work closely with central Finance, M&A, Engineering and Innovation teams to ensure methodological alignment and robust project economics.
Profile & Key Skills
- Bachelor’s in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech), Master’s degree in Power management/energy or business administration is preferred.
- Knowledge & experience of at least 5 years in the solar energy industry in India & have knowledge of regulations pertaining to different states.
- Proven track-record of greenfield solar project development across state(s) in India.
- Deeply involved, proactive, organized and able to work independently.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications with high standards of presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills with matching business etiquettes
- Ability to join within 30 days would be a plus
