The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities for PayFWDs. This role is focused on generating new client relationships through prospecting, networking, referrals, and strategic sales activities while representing the company's commitment to exceptional customer service and long-term partnerships.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, relationship-driven, and comfortable engaging business owners, executives, HR professionals, and financial decision-makers. Success in this role is measured by consistently building a qualified sales pipeline, achieving revenue goals, and delivering an outstanding client experience from initial contact through implementation handoff.
- Prospect and generate new business opportunities through cold calling, email campaigns, networking events, referrals, social selling, and strategic outreach.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Develop relationships with business owners, HR leaders, CFOs, Controllers, and other decision-makers.
- Schedule and conduct discovery meetings to understand prospective client needs.
- Identify pain points and recommend tailored payroll, HR, timekeeping, tax, onboarding, benefits, and workforce management solutions.
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations and presentations.
- Prepare proposals, pricing, and service recommendations.
- Negotiate agreements and close new business opportunities.
- Consistently achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
- Establish trusted advisor relationships with prospects throughout the sales cycle.
- Develop referral partnerships with CPAs, insurance brokers, bankers, attorneys, and business consultants.
- Represent PayFWDs at networking events, chamber functions, trade shows, and industry associations.
- Maintain ongoing communication with prospects until a buying decision is reached.
- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities within the CRM.
- Manage opportunities through each stage of the sales pipeline.
- Coordinate closely with implementation and operations teams to ensure smooth client transitions.
- Participate in sales meetings, forecasting, and pipeline reviews.
- Stay informed on competitive products, market trends, and payroll industry developments.

- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent business experience.
- 2+ years of B2B sales experience.
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales quotas.

- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to build rapport with executives and business owners.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Payroll, HR, HRIS, HCM, PEO, SaaS, or financial services sales experience.
- Experience selling to small and mid-sized businesses.
