ShopBack Pay is expanding its offline merchant network and we're looking for someone to help us get there.
This role sits at the intersection of business development and commercial problem-solving. You will work on unlocking new merchant segments and categories for ShopBack Pay, figuring out how to structure partnerships and commercial solutions that serve a broader set of merchants. The scope will evolve as the team and projects grow - that's by design. What stays constant is the expectation that you bring energy, sharp judgment, and a genuine drive to build.

Your Adventure Ahead
Merchant Acquisition & Business Development
- Identify and engage new merchant segments in under penetrated categories, owning the full cycle from first outreach through to close and onboarding and scaling across the category.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategy for acquiring merchant partners for ShopBack Pay.
- Provide ongoing support to merchant partners, understanding their expectations and optimizing their experience with ShopBack Pay.
- Create playbooks that will be scaled across teams and markets inclusive of commercial structure, pitch strategy, budgets & go-to-market.
- Take ownership of ambiguous problems, build a point of view from scratch, and drive toward a practical outcome.
- Solve merchant-specific problems and develop creative commercial solutions; pitch to merchants and structure commercial deals tailored to their needs.
- Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and surface insights that inform commercial strategy.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify new opportunities and stay ahead.
- Develop commercial strategies for the team, with timely analysis, recommendations, and execution framework.
- Work closely with product, commercial, marketing, legal and finance teams to translate field learnings into sharper go-to-market strategies for ShopBack Pay.
- Drive projects end-to-end from conceptualization to execution (project planning, go to market, tracking and monitoring project progress).
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record in any field.
- Experience in a start-up, management consulting, or e-commerce / payments related industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous commercial problems: you can scope a challenge, identify insights, and build a structured recommendation from scratch.
- Strong sales aptitude and confidence engaging merchants in person, including field sales and walk-in outreach.
- Proven track record of achievement in academic, professional, entrepreneurial, or extracurricular settings; evidence that you deliver results, not just effort.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to use data to support decisions and communicate complex ideas clearly to varied audiences.
- High learning agility: you adapt quickly, pick up new categories and product knowledge fast, and don't wait to be told what to do next.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to perform in a fast-moving, less structured environment without a fixed playbook.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and take ownership, while collaborating effectively with a close-knit team.
- AI Competency: Demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) to as a builder (improve workflows, enhance productivity) or a seller (how to grow revenue, communicate effectively with partners), driving efficient outputs at scale.
