About Dancing
Dancing is a small, founder-led premium wine brand based in Healdsburg, Sonoma County. We make six wines — a Rosé, a brut sparkling Rosé, a blanc de noirs, and three reds — priced from $28 to $54. We sell directly to wine lovers through our DTC channel and our Dance Club membership, and we sell to a curated set of restaurants, hotels, and retailers through wholesale.
Most of our customers live on the coast. The brand has always been more than the bottle: we extend into fragrance, into community, and into a particular point of view about what California wine can feel like in 2026. We are not a corporate wine company. We are not a wine-country wine company. We are a downtown brand that happens to make serious wine in Sonoma.
After several years of building a meaningful DTC business and a focused wholesale presence in Sonoma County (currently 20+ accounts), we are ready to plant a flag in Los Angeles. That’s where you come in.
About the Role
You will be Dancing’s person in Los Angeles. You will build our LA wholesale book from zero, focused on three priority zones — the Eastside natural-wine corridor (Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Highland Park), the Westside lifestyle corridor (Venice, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Arts District), and a slower-burn prestige layer in Beverly Hills.
You’ll work from a starter target list of 50–60 named accounts that we’ll build together before your first day. By end of year one, the goal is roughly 35 active accounts and 400 cases sold into the LA market. You’ll operate under Dancing’s California Type 02 license, which means you can sell direct to restaurants and retailers without a distributor in between — the relationship is yours, the wine ships from our warehouse, the conversation is unmediated.
This is a prospecting role. You will spend most of your week in your car and in accounts — meeting buyers, pouring samples, following up. It is not a desk job. It is also not a role for someone who needs to be managed minute-to-minute. You’ll have weekly coaching, a clear playbook, and a team that wants you to win. The day-to-day momentum is yours to create.
Responsibilities
- Own Dancing’s Los Angeles wholesale business end-to-end: prospecting, tastings, sample drops, follow-up, order intake, and account maintenance
- Build relationships with buyers at independent restaurants, boutique hotels, wine bars, and specialty retailers in the LA Metro
- Run 10–12 qualified buyer tastings per week and roughly the same number of in-person buyer interactions
- Use our CRM to log every interaction, sample drop, and follow-up — from your first day
- Submit a short Friday report each week: the week’s activity, what landed, what didn’t, what you need
- Coordinate quarterly with Alex, our Sonoma County account manager, including a 2-day exchange visit twice a year
- Represent Dancing at LA-area trade tastings, importer portfolios, and industry events
- Bring market intelligence back to the brand: what buyers are responding to, what the LA scene is doing, where Dancing fits
Qualifications
- Have 2+ years working the floor at a serious LA restaurant or wine shop — as an assistant sommelier, lead server with wine focus, beverage manager, or wine retail buyer
- Live in Los Angeles and know the city’s dining and drinking landscape the way a sommelier knows it, not the way Yelp knows it
- Have a valid driver’s license, a reliable car, and are willing to drive 100+ miles a week across LA
- Can talk about wine without sounding rehearsed or pretentious
- Are organized enough to run your own calendar, your own pipeline, and your own follow-up rhythm without anyone hovering
- Have handled rejection before — in hospitality, in sales, in life — and don’t take it personally
Preferred Skills
- WSET Level 2 or 3, Court of Master Sommeliers certification, or equivalent formal wine training
- Existing relationships with LA wine buyers
- Prior sales or brand-ambassador experience in wine, spirits, or premium lifestyle CPG
Compensation & Benefits Package
- Base Salary $55,000 + activity & case incentives + annual bonus
- OTE $70,000 - $80,000 year 1
- Health insurance
- 15 days PTO, plus standard holidays
- Bi-annual trips to Healdsburg
- A generous personal wine allocation
