Indexed description

We are partnering with a commercially focused life sciences organisation to hire a Business Development & Licensing Associate. This is a newly created role supporting the global growth of a CRISPR/Cas9 licensing portfolio across life science tools, drug discovery, bioproduction, synthetic biology, agriculture, animal health and industrial biotechnology. This role would suit someone with a strong life sciences background who is commercially curious, organised, and interested in working at the intersection of science, IP and global business development.

The Role

Working closely with the Head of Business Development & Licensing and the wider global commercial team, you will help identify, qualify and progress new licensing opportunities worldwide. You will also play a key role in managing Salesforce, supporting pipeline reporting, and ensuring marketing and top-of-funnel activity is converted into qualified commercial opportunities. This is an individual contributor role with international exposure. Some travel may be required, up to 10 days per quarter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new licensing opportunities across pharma, biotech, research institutions, technology transfer offices and adjacent life sciences markets
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of Salesforce, including pipeline hygiene, account intelligence, lead enrichment and reporting
  • Act as a key link between Business Development, Marketing & Communications and the BDR function
  • Research and engage with target organisations across CRISPR/Cas9 application areas
  • Communicate complex scientific, commercial and IP concepts clearly to prospective licensees
  • Support deal preparation as you develop, including target prioritisation, account research and term-sheet support

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in biological sciences, biotechnology, business administration or a related discipline
  • 1+ years’ experience in business development, technology transfer, industrial licensing or a comparable commercial role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific or technical information
  • Highly organised, analytical and comfortable being measured on output
  • Self-starter who enjoys working in a small, fast-moving and international environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience in out-licensing, technology transfer or life sciences deal-making
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or a similar CRM platform
  • Familiarity with licensing economics, contract language or deal structures
  • Understanding of CRISPR/Cas9 or adjacent markets such as synthetic biology, cell-line engineering, agricultural biotech, industrial biotech or animal health

The Person

We are looking for someone who is action-oriented, commercially curious and comfortable working across time zones and cultures. You will be honest about what you know and where you need support, particularly when dealing with complex scientific, IP or contractual topics.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in business development and licensing within a highly specialised global life sciences environment.
