About This Role
The New Business BDM is a dedicated growth role responsible for accelerating Diageo’s performance in the On Premise channel through winning new contracts and unlocking high-quality venues.
This role exists to step-change Diageo’s penetration by targeting a qualified universe of high-potential venues and converting them into long-term, high-value partnerships.
The role is primarily focused on new business acquisition initially, it also retains ownership of new accounts through onboarding and early-stage growth, ensuring customers are successfully embedded, activated, and set up for long-term success.
The role is accountable for end-to-end pipeline creation, conversion, onboarding, and early revenue realisation, driving increased market penetration and positioning Diageo as a trusted commercial partner in On Premise.
You Will Be Responsible For
- Win new business opportunities against a targeted pipeline of 250+ qualified venues
- Proactively prospect, engage, and convert new customers within priority On Premise segments through disciplined, high-frequency activity
- Develop tailored commercial value propositions based on customer needs, occasions, and profitability drivers
- Lead end-to-end negotiation and contract execution, delivering high-quality, commercially sound agreements
- Drive profitable growth by assessing opportunities and ensuring strong return on investment and long-term value
- Establish strong relationships with key decision-makers, positioning Diageo as a trusted growth partner
- Own the onboarding of new customers, ensuring seamless transition from contract to activation
- Drive early-stage account success through activation, execution, and initial rate of sale growth
- Maintain engagement in newly acquired accounts until they are fully embedded and performing
- Collaborate with internal teams to maximise impact and long-term success
- Maintain strong pipeline rigor, forecasting accuracy, and reporting standards
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account acquisition roles
- A strong hunter approach, confident, driven, resilient, and proactive in winning new business
- Demonstrated ability to build pipelines and convert opportunities at pace
- Experience in building customer relationships and influencing decisionmakers
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess profitability, return on investment, and growth potential
- Ability to understand market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to transition from winning business → onboarding → early account growth
- High levels of ownership, accountability, and execution rigor
- Proven track record in business development and or sales hunting roles
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract management capability
- Experience within On Premise / FMCG / Liqour / Hospitality preferred
- Data-led approach to pipeline management and prioritisation
- Ability to thrive in a high-autonomy, high-accountability environment
