ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: SALES REPRESENTATIVE
The Sales Representative will undertake a variety of proactive sales and marketing initiatives to drive business success in alignment with the organizational strategy. This role focuses on the recruitment of new business and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. The successful candidate will emphasize the development of new business opportunities, building long-term client relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver comprehensive solutions. By leveraging industry knowledge, CRM tools, and creative problem-solving, this position will play a key role in ensuring revenue growth, revenue certainty, and the overall success of the organization’s business development efforts.
DUTIES
Recruitment of New Business (Revenue Growth):
- Set and monitor outreach goals to maintain steady engagement and lead generation.
- Actively seeking new business opportunities through outreach, lead generation, and market research.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships through networking, referrals, and targeted prospecting.
- Assist in the creation of client-specific presentations and sales materials.
- Manage and track the sales pipeline using CRM tools to ensure consistent progress.
- Represent TPS at trade shows, conferences, and client meetings to showcase our offerings and increase brand visibility.
Retention of Current Clients (Revenue Certainty):
- Build, maintain and grow existing revenue streams and long-term relationships with existing clients to ensure continued business.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, provide exceptional service, and address issues quickly.
- Conduct regular in-person check-ins with clients to assess their evolving needs and identify upselling opportunities.
- Promote TPS products and services to support client goals and ensure ongoing satisfaction.
Active Outreach and Client Development:
- Lead proactive outreach to prospective and existing clients using structured communication strategies.
- Schedule and conduct meetings to introduce and promote TPS offerings.
- Re-engage inactive accounts through targeted initiatives to uncover new opportunities.
- Develop and implement engagement plans to maintain regular communication with key industry stakeholders.
Internal Collaboration:
- Represent and collaborate with all business units, including Training, Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing, and Electrical Services, to deliver integrated sales solutions.
- Partner across departments and regional offices to ensure alignment between sales efforts and service delivery.
- Provide valuable insights during sales meetings to refine strategies, drive growth, and enhance team performance.
- Assist in the preparation of quotes, proposals, and other client-facing materials.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Achieve assigned in-year revenue targets as outlined in SMART goals.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of leads, opportunities, and sales revenue in alignment with the annual business development plan.
- Execute timely, relevant, and effective sales initiatives across a mix of traditional and non-traditional platforms.
- Develop and monitor sales metrics to assess the performance of initiatives, ensuring timely data collection and analysis.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships with key internal teams, including training, engineering, automation, manufacturing, and electrical services, to drive collaborative sales efforts.
- Proactively identify and resolve client challenges using innovative, results-driven solutions.

EFFORT
This role leverages industry knowledge, sales expertise, and strong communication skills to address customer needs and provide guidance to both customers and internal teams. It involves collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders, including internal colleagues, current and potential clients, trade show organizers, and government representatives. Success in this position depends heavily on the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships.
The work pace is steady, though there may be periods of high demand requiring teamwork, coordination, and quick adaptability. Deadlines are an essential aspect of the role, requiring flexibility and the capacity to adjust to changing circumstances. Challenges are addressed through creative problem-solving, innovative approaches, and a willingness to explore various solutions when outcomes are uncertain.
This role offers flexibility in determining exceptions to standards and contributing to the development of sales strategies based on emerging trends. Long-term planning is a constant focus, with the position playing a crucial role in shaping TPS’s reputation and profile.

The workload is consistent and deadline-driven, with frequent interruptions. Problem-solving and innovation are necessary when navigating challenges and identifying new business opportunities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires extensive travel within the designated home office region (approximately 50% of the time). Work may take place in various environments, including client organizations, events, trade shows, and other locations. Hours outside of normal business hours are often necessary to network with prospects and clients, attend meetings, and participate in industry events.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary education in sales, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of two years of related experience in sales, marketing, or business development (experience as a technologist, electrician, or engineer may substitute).
- Pipeline Industry experience (preferred)
- Commitment to continuous learning, including professional development initiatives to enhance skills and industry knowledge.
