A global leader in advanced life sciences microscopy and optical imaging technology is seeking a commercially driven and technically curious Business Development Manager to manage and grow its presence across Queensland and New Zealand. The company designs and manufactures high-end research microscopy solutions used by universities, hospitals, biotech organisations and research institutes to advance scientific discovery.

You will play a key role in expanding the company's footprint with universities, research institutes, hospitals and biotech organisations, building relationships with researchers and procurement stakeholders while driving new business across a defined territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business development and sales growth for a high-end life science research microscopy portfolio across Queensland and New Zealand
  • Identify, engage and convert new opportunities within universities, research institutes, hospitals, pathology providers and biotech organisations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with researchers, facility managers, procurement teams and key opinion leaders to support instrument selection and purchasing decisions
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle including needs identification, product demonstrations, quotation, negotiation and closing of high-value capital equipment sales
  • Develop and execute a territory business plan to achieve revenue targets and grow market share against competitor instrument providers
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and account records within CRM systems, and provide regular reporting on sales activity and forecasts
  • Represent the company at conferences, seminars and industry events to build brand visibility and generate new leads

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a quota-carrying business development, technical sales or account management role, ideally within life science, scientific instrumentation or capital equipment
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing complex, long-cycle sales through to close
  • Genuine interest in, or exposure to, microscopy or optical imaging technologies and their application in research settings
  • Confident presenter and communicator, comfortable delivering technical demonstrations and value-based sales conversations
  • Ability to manage a geographically dispersed territory independently, prioritising travel and time across Queensland and New Zealand
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
