Due to an internal career progression opportunity, we are seeking a Business Development - Consultants & Specifiers to join our Strategic Solutions team.
In this role, you will strengthen our presence within the consulting and specification community and be responsible for building strategic relationships, promoting IPD's innovative portfolio of electrical and industrial solutions, and securing product specifications that drive future project opportunities.
Reporting to the General Manager - Strategic Solutions, this position is based at our Brisbane Airport, QLD office.
About The Role
As the Business Development, you will work closely with Electrical, Industrial and Mechanical Design Consultancies, Specifiers, and End Users to increase awareness and adoption of IPD's solutions.
- Consultant & Specification Engagement - Conducting regular structured meetings and technical presentations with consultants and specifiers to promote IPD's solutions across Power Distribution, Switchboard Systems, Busway, Power Monitoring, Automation, IIoT, Industrial Communications, Safety Solutions, Hazardous Area Solutions, and Drives/HVAC.Specialist Solution Presentations - Facilitating and supporting presentations delivered by Product Specialists to consultants and specifiers, showcasing IPD's solutions across Elsteel Techno, Power Monitoring, Critical Power, Surge & Lightning Protection, Cybersecurity, Industrial Communications, HVAC, EV Solutions, and Automation & Control.
- Specification Development - Securing the inclusion of IPD products and solutions in project specifications through proactive engagement with consultants, specifiers, and key stakeholders, ensuring strong brand representation across key projects.
- Opportunity Development - Influencing consultants and specifiers to transition from competing solutions to IPD products by creating new project opportunities and increasing market share at least 3 times per quarter.
- Knowledge Management & Team Collaboration - Creating and maintaining a comprehensive database of consultant and specifier presentations, while collaborating with interstate Business Development teams to share knowledge, ensure consistency of messaging, and maximise market coverage across regions.
- CRM & Relationship Management - Maintaining accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including customer interactions, technical presentations, project opportunities, and consultant and specifier contact information to support effective stakeholder engagement and business growth.
About you:
You are a driven and commercially minded professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing outcomes, and identifying new business opportunities.
- Electrical Trade qualification or Engineering degree.
- Previous experience in Sales and Business Development.
- Strong understanding of contract management and tendering processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage KPIs, margins, and sales performance.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to client sites as required.
