About BlueShift
BlueShift is rebuilding mineral processing to unlock critical-mineral resources that are currently uneconomic. We combine electrochemical processing, on-site reagent generation, modular systems, and data-driven process design to advance from integrated pilots to commercial plants. Our work strengthens domestic mineral supply chains for defense, energy, compute, and
advanced manufacturing.
About the role
You will work alongside the CEO to build BlueShift's commercial function from the ground up. You will identify markets and customers, create opportunities, develop business cases, coordinate technical diligence, and move priority accounts toward pilots, offtakes, and commercial deployments.
This is a hands-on individual-contributor role spanning research, outreach, customer visits, analysis, proposals, and deal execution. It is well suited to a high-agency operator from industry, the military, or public service who wants to apply mission-oriented execution to company building. Strong performance can lead to ownership of BlueShift's commercial organization.
Key responsibilities
- Build the target-account list and create opportunities through research, outbound outreach, referrals, site visits, and persistent follow-up.
- Develop market analyses, customer materials, techno-commercial proposals, and agreements.
- Advance accounts from first contact through sample qualification, pilot execution, conditional offtake, and deployment.
- Assess commodity flows, buyer requirements, pricing, qualification standards, sourcing risk, and alternatives.
- Translate customer needs with Engineering and R&D into product requirements, test plans, and commercial milestones.
- Maintain a rigorous CRM, account plans, forecasts, decisions, and next actions.
- Represent BlueShift with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders while building a network from the ground up.
Basic qualifications
- 4+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, commodity supply chains, commercial development, corporate development, industrial sales, or a related operating role.
- Experience in industrial hardware, energy, batteries, automotive, space, mining, defense, or another technical market.
- Evidence of owning complex cross-functional work with incomplete information and limited resources.
- Experience supporting a complex commercial, technical, investment, sourcing, or project-development process.
- Technical curiosity, analytical judgment, clear communication, and comfort operating with high ownership and little bureaucracy.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience procuring or commercializing critical minerals, commodity inputs, battery materials, industrial chemicals, or other strategic materials.
- Direct experience negotiating procurement contracts, supply agreements, offtakes, strategic partnerships, or other complex commercial agreements.
- A strong network across energy, batteries, automotive, space, mining, and defense.
- Military, government, or public-service experience that developed operational ownership, technical fluency, logistics or acquisition judgment, or the ability to navigate complex institutions.
What we offer
- Meaningful equity and direct responsibility for building BlueShift's commercial function.
- Autonomy over market strategy, customer relationships, deal structures, and the path to commercial scale.
- The opportunity to grow into BlueShift's commercial leader.
