About the Role


The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and developing strategic relationships within the packaging industry. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, managing key customer accounts, understanding market trends, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver innovative packaging solutions that meet customer needs. The position plays a critical role in achieving sales targets, improving customer satisfaction, and supporting the company's long-term growth strategy.


Responsibilities


  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target industries such as FMCG, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, e-commerce, and industrial sectors.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Generate leads, conduct market research, and build a strong sales pipeline.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, proposals, and commercial negotiations.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and industry partners.
  • Understand customer packaging requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Manage customer accounts to maximize retention and growth opportunities.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and service issues in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging packaging technologies.
  • Identify market gaps and recommend new product or service opportunities.
  • Analyze customer needs and provide market intelligence to support product development.
  • Work closely with production, R&D, procurement, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Coordinate new product development projects and packaging innovation initiatives.
  • Support pricing strategies and contract negotiations.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, business plans, and market analysis reports.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activities in CRM systems.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Packaging Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • MBA or relevant professional certifications would be an advantage.
  • 5-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or key account management within the packaging industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and developing new business opportunities.
  • Experience in flexible packaging, rigid packaging, paper packaging, corrugated packaging, labels, or sustainable packaging solutions is preferred.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and market analysis capability.
  • Ability to develop strategic business plans and execute growth initiatives.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and industry regulations.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Results-driven and customer-focused mindset.
  • Self-motivated with strong entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits, industry exhibitions, and business meetings.
