What is the position?

As an IT Project Financial Analyst, you will oversee the financial management of a portfolio of IT projects by supporting budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and reporting. This role partners closely with project managers, the PMO, and Finance to provide accurate financial insights, helping ensure projects remain on budget and aligned with organizational goals.

What are the responsibilities?

As an IT Project Financial Analyst, you will:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections for multiple IT initiatives.
  • Monitor project spending, analyze budget variances, and provide actionable financial recommendations.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of project changes, including funding needs and associated risks.
  • Collaborate with Finance on capital and operating expense classifications, accruals, and month-end close activities.
  • Create and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and documentation to support decision-making and governance.
  • Identify financial risks and trends while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of project financial data throughout the project lifecycle.

What are the requirements?

  • High school diploma/GED with relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in project financial analysis, FP&A, cost analysis, or project controls.
  • Experience managing budgets and forecasts across multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of project accounting principles, including capitalization, expense classification, and estimate-at-completion forecasting.
  • Experience using enterprise ERP or project accounting systems such as Oracle or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Power BI for reporting and dashboard creation preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills with the ability to collaborate across IT, Finance, and PMO teams.
  • Familiarity with the Project Life Cycle and an interest in leveraging AI-powered productivity tools is a plus.

You would be really happy here if:

  • You are left-brained and understand that the devil’s in the details, proactively seeking them out and recognizing how they contribute to the success of a project.
  • Roadblocks don’t intimidate you. You enjoy evaluating challenges, identifying solutions, and helping projects stay on track.
