On behalf of Deutsche Bank, we are looking for a Senior Java Engineer (Front Office/Fixed Income) for a 6 Months contract based in London (Hybrid 3 times per week in the office).

Job description - the role

Purpose of the role:
As Senior Java Engineer you will join a Front Office technology team focused on the development and enhancement of Fixed Income trading applications. You will bring strong Java engineering expertise combined with an understanding of trading environments and the ability to contribute across the full technology stack, helping to deliver innovative solutions that support business-critical trading activities.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and enhance existing trading systems in line with business and technical requirements.
  • Implement pre-defined solutions to resolve platform issues and improve system stability and performance.
  • Build high-quality, maintainable Java applications using established design patterns and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to a shared codebase and support the deployment of changes into UAT environments for testing and validation.
  • Provide regular updates on delivery progress, risks, and technical implementation details to stakeholders and team members.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation and actively support knowledge sharing to ensure effective handover and long-term platform ownership.

The skills you'll need:

  • Strong experience developing Front Office trading applications, with a solid understanding of Fixed Income products and trading workflows.
  • Proven expertise in Java backend development, including Spring Boot and the design of scalable, high-performance enterprise applications.
  • Experience working in a Full Stack role would be beneficial, with the ability to contribute across both backend services and front-end application development.
  • Good understanding of modern cloud and DevOps technologies, including Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle databases, including query optimization, data modelling, and troubleshooting within large-scale applications.
